25.01.2022 This Leighton Green hedge had to be graduated by about 5 degrees from one end to the other of a 30 meter section. Swipe to see the before shots at the end of the carousel along with a pool area section, although the pool area was well overdue meaning the finish was not as smooth as i would have liked to achieve if it was trimmed sooner rather than later.

12.01.2022 This is not a picture of just leaves. look closely at the leaves, its actually leaves and Gaffa tape! When I am working on a hedge with holes in it caused by dead or broken branches, rather than wait for a several years for it to grow back, I use it to repair and conceal the holes immediately!. You can repair almost any hole in any hedge. Its easy to use, its tough, resists wind, meaning it prevents movement and does not damage the hedge branches. I even use it to connect... fallen dead branches using them as supports and ties. You can use cable ties but they dont deteriorate over time and they are slow and complicated to use. The tape grips on any angle and usually there are more often than not surrounding leafy branches that are available to help fill gaps in the look of your hedge. Sometimes I find nice leafy branches pointing inside, I just pull them forward into the gap and secure them with the tape. I find it really helps immensely to make a hedge look perfect and often gives shaded leaves in the hedge more access to sunlight. On this particular job I was able to fill a several huge holes in a Viburnum hedge. These interior repairs are not easily visible from the outside of the hedge because of the tape colour and the position I place the tie. I also used a string line on the Viburnum hedge pictured as it is a big leaf hedge and makes it easier to get a straight edge. See more

12.01.2022 This is how to make domes on an existing flat top hedge. Currently its a work in progress. I made a circular template with legs to keep it steady when making the first cuts. Then I was able to make duplicate topiary domes on this square top horseshoe hedge. First a deep cut everywhere except the template (the last picture is of the first deep cuts around the entire hedge) Then I waited a few months then cut & shaped and so on and so forth. I intend for these domes to be highe...r and more circular but this is where they are from making the template and the initial cut and occasional trims from 6 months ago up until now. 05.01.2022 Love working on these hedges, completed these today. The large hedges have a walk space all the way around which is great for accessing the back. Most gardens Ive come across dont allow for that space and the neighbours end up dealing large overhanging branches. Tall hedges look flat from the front but are mostly 3 meters deep. However long it takes to do the fronts- the tops can 5 times longer. . .

04.01.2022 Love these old self-sharpening shears! Had them since 1980, they are fast, sharp and light! When Im trimming in the groove it sounds like a machine going clipityclipclip! I took this shot of them sitting on top of a Buxus hedge I trim. Depending on the amount of regrowth I generally use a battery trimmer to remove the bulk and finish off with these shears.
