25.01.2022 Welcome to a new year everyone as we look forward to the 93rd North Queensland Eisteddfod in Cairns at Easter. Choirs from Mackay, Townsville and Cairns are now back in full rehearsal and excited to be performing in the brand new Cairns Performing Arts Complex. The Cairns local committee are working hard to ensure we all have a fabulous weekend. As well as the choir sections, there are also multiple sections for soloists, duets and quartets, instrumentalists as well as speech and drama sections. The preliminary programme and entry forms are available for download on our website: www.nqeisteddfod.org.au Reminder that entries close on 8th March. We look forward to seeing you there.

25.01.2022 Due to the rapidly developing situation surrounding COVID-19 virus, the Eisteddfod Association of North Queensland have made the difficult decision to defer this years eisteddfod. The health of our competitors is our number one priority. All competitors will be contacted regarding refunding of entry fees. We will be back again next year for the 94th NQ Eisteddfod, which will now be held in Townsville at Easter 2021. Stay healthy everyone and we look forward to seeing you in Townsville. You may perform the same songs you originally entered this year. You will just need to submit a new entry form when it becomes available later this year

15.01.2022 The 93rd North Queensland Eisteddfod has come to an end after a wonderful three days of competition in Cairns, which saw Cairns Choral Society taking out the Choral Championship, and Townsville Choral Society winners of the Aggregate trophy. Cassandra Wright was the winner of the Champion of Champions Vocal Soloist and Zahara Andrews champion in Speech and Drama. Judith Brown from Mackay was named most proficient accompanist and Rachel Cairns from Townsville named most proficient conductor. This year saw a new choir, Voices of the North from Port Douglas, enter the competition. We all look forward to next years competition when we head to Mackay.

05.01.2022 How fortunate were we that flood waters receded so significantly to allow our friends from Cairns Choral Society and indeed Mackay Choral Society and Home Hill Choral Society to reach Townsville relatively unscathed. The weather Gods were mostly kind to us over the weekend too. Must have been all those Hallelujah's. Now as we keep an eye on TC Iris, we hope you are all safely home and tucked up in your own beds tonight.
