24.01.2022 Did you know that veterinary acupuncture can be used to treat behaviour conditions?!? How cool is that! Meet Rufus. I treated Rufus a few years ago. He is a 7 year old Kelpie cross. He has always been an anxious and nervous type. He is storm and water phobic. ... He urinates when nervous, when meeting new people, in new situations or even if his owner asks him to 'sit', 'stay' or 'go to bed'. He was diagnosed with generalised anxiety and associated urinary incontinence. After a Chinese medicine examination I diagnosed Rufus with Kidney Yin Deficiency, leading to a Shen disturbance and Kidney Qi not being rooted due to an underlying Kidney Jing Deficiency. He received four Acupuncture treatments in total over two months. Amazingly his urinary incontinence ceased after the first treatment! His anxiety responded gradually after each treatment with noticeable improvements in behaviour and stress levels in a variety of circumstances. It is also fantastic to report that Rufus began swimming at the beach and local swimming hole both of which he was too frightened to ever try before Acupuncture! His anxiety related urinary incontinence has not returned even 2 years after treatment! The story of Rufus is just one example of how Veterinary Acupuncture can help animals. Depending on the condition, animal and circumstances results may vary. Message me today to see if Veterinary Acupuncture can help your pet!
22.01.2022 It’s getting COLD!!! With winter on the way why not treat your dog to some Acupuncture to help soothe those old painful bones. Often we find as the weather cools down our senior pets become sore, stiff and slow. Obviously assessment and diagnosis by your regular veterinarian is ideal as there are some great supplements and pain relief medications also available. Acupuncture is a great adjunct to assist in the management of osteoarthritis, not to mention a variety of other a...ilments. Molly is 11 years old and had her treatment for osteoarthritis this week while little brother Flynn looked on! How cute! Apart from her Acupuncture sessions, Molly is also taking 4Cyte supplement daily and has regular Cartrophen injections to keep her nimble in her older years. PM me to see if Acupuncture could help your pet!
18.01.2022 Meet Ava. I have been treating this beautiful 14.5year old Labrador for the past few months. We have been working on helping her have less ‘accidents’ inside the house as she is a little slower to get outside these days! Apart from enjoying her treatment sessions, she now has much more energy and after her third treatment hasn’t had any further ‘accidents’ inside the house! See below. This is what her Mum posted a short while ago including photos. Thank you for your support ...Tammy and allowing me to treat such a beautiful young lady! We have been treating Ava (14 1/2yrs young) with acupuncture instead of traditional medication and can honestly say she has noticeably more energy and loves the attention during the treatments. Thanks Kate for looking after our girl.

12.01.2022 Meet Bobby! He is a 19 year old Thoroughbred gelding. After many years of mustering and working on stations Bobby is now in retirement. Bobby is special as he only has one eye these days, the other was removed due to a cancerous growth. Bobby's remaining eye has for a very long time, been producing excessive tears. The tears would be seen to stream down his face and drop off his cheek on a daily basis. ... Western Veterinary treatments to unblock the tear duct had been attempted several times previously with no reduction in tear overflow. Acupuncture was used as a sole treatment to successfully treat Bobby's blocked tear duct and excessive tearing that was previously refractory to routine veterinary treatments. After a Chinese medicine examination he was diagnosed with Qi stagnation and Dampness accumulation resulting from trauma to the right periocular area many years prior. Bobby received seven treatments in total over two months. Treatments aimed to bring Qi to the eyes with local points and resolve Damp with distal points. The persistent serous discharge improved remarkably after the first treatment and completely resolved after four months. Bobby is such a gentle, easy going soul that he did not require sedatives for his treatments despite needling so close to his eye! The improvements made with veterinary acupuncture in Bobby's case are amazing. His tear duct is healthier now and he has an improved quality of life. He now has normal tear production and no tear overflow. Veterinary Acupuncture can be used to treat and manage a variety of conditions in horses such as blocked tear ducts, Anhidrosis also known as 'The Puffs' which is an inability to sweat, some musculoskeletal, reproductive, gastrointestinal and skin problems. Veterinary Acupuncture often compliments western veterinary medicine however sometimes can be useful as a sole form of treatment. Call me today to find out if Veterinary Acupuncture may be able to help your pet
11.01.2022 Welcome to acu in practice! One of the most common conditions we treat with acupuncture in animals is ARTHRITIS! In TCM, we refer to this as "Bony Bi Syndrome."... The Bony Bi occurs as a result of long standing stagnation or reduction in the circulation of Blood and Qi to the affected areas of the body. With acupuncture, we can resolve stagnation and restore proper circulation prior to the development of Bony Bi. This is why it is important not to ignore signs of pain or stiffness. Once the Bony changes have occurred, acupuncture can still greatly minimize symptoms such as pain and swelling, as well as help to slow the progression of the arthritis. In my practice, I see many rabbits with spinal arthritis. Even though the structure of their bones has been altered, acupuncture and other alternative therapies such as laser and herbal formulas, can greatly improve their comfort and happiness! This post is created by Nell Ostermeier, DVM, CVA and is intended for informational use, not to replace medical advice. 08.01.2022 Acupuncture for geriatric animals can often be very rejuvenating. This is Fitz- an 18year old domestic shorthair. He was suffering from osteoarthritis-related s...tiffness and frequent muscle twitches and had become very quiet and inactive. His TCM diagnosis was Bi Syndrome with a decline in Kidney Jing as underlying cause, as well as generalised Blood - and Liver Blood deficiency. After his 2nd acupuncture treatment he started to become a lot more active again, the twitches discontinued and he is back outside hunting rats again. See more
