23.01.2022 Following on from the childrens interest in our local custodians, the Wurundjeri People, before we started learning from home, Claire Marie shared a beautiful and very special story with the children to go along with our small world experience of eel trapping. This story really afforded the children with the opportunity to really understand and engage with this dramatic play space in a much more meaningful way. 15.01.2022 Slime! We celebrated Science week with a quick and easy experiment. This slime recipe is 1 part water to 2 parts cornflour, with a drop of food colour. (Its quick and easy to clean up too.) Cornflour slime doesnt act like a normal fluid. 07.01.2022 Before we began learning from home, some of the children started to show a big emerging interest in tracing, using the light box. The children requested different images, took the image and a blank piece of paper over to the light box and then traced it with a grey led pencil. After they finished, they colour in their own picture and some of the artworks created were absolutely beautiful. Its a really great experience for the children to learn some different drawing and sket...ching methods, but also early literacy, using the pencil to explore lines and mark making. 05.01.2022 As we settle into Term 3, the children have shown great interest in learning about our custodians, the Wurundjeri people. This interest has been reflected in a small world play experience created about the Wurundjeri people, catching eels in a trap, on the Yarra River. Learning through play is extremely powerful and can enrich the experience whilst developing key skills such as inquiry, expression, experimentation, and teamwork.

03.01.2022 This year Term 2 has started a little different to previous years. Our amazing team of educators have put together a comprehensive and strict Covid 19 minimisation plan to assist the health and wellbeing of everybody who attends the Kinder. The staff are continuing to support children not only at the Kinder but also at home. We are all learning, thinking, creating and coming together as a community whilst some of us are still apart. The children attending the Kinder have ada...pted to the changes well and their wellbeing during this difficult time will be a key focus. Painting in the sunshine is certainly going to put some smiles on faces and be good for the soul! Due to Covid 19 restrictions we have unfortunately had to cancel our upcoming Open Day. We will be welcoming Kinder tours and visits when it is safe to do so. 03.01.2022 Last term the children were starting to show an interest in planets after we explored how the earth rotates around the sun during winter solstice. During the holidays, some of the educators came in to set up some new experiences based on the childrens emerging interests from last term and our Space Station was one of these. We are writing to inform you that the bodies that govern the Early Childhood Education sector have made the hard decision to postpone the Bush Kinder program until further notice during Term 2. They have made this decision in light of the current pandemic and keeping families and Kinder Communities well.
