21.01.2022 We are delighted to welcome Dr Rachel to our team of vets. Rachel graduated with Honours from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2007. She always wanted to be a vet and follow in her mum’s footsteps. After working in the UK for a few years she moved to Melbourne and has been a bayside resident ever since. She has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery and geriatric medicine. Outside of work, Rachel can be found running with her Border Terrier, Edie, and playing Lacrosse (she has represented both England and Australia). Rachel loves getting to know clients, and looks forward to meeting you and helping provide your pets with the best possible care, so that they can lead a happy and healthy life.

04.01.2022 Pictures of a grass seed removed from a dogs paw yesterday and a grass seed about to penetrate the skin It’s grass seed season! This time of the year we see a lot of dogs coming in with grass seed foreign bodies. Grass seeds get caught in the fur and if not removed they can penetrate the skin and travel anywhere in the body which need to be surgically removed otherwise they can cause problems and infection. ... It is important to call and attend the vet promptly if a grass seed is suspected. The most common place we see grass seeds enter the skin is the paws and sometimes inside the ears. Signs of grass seed foreign bodies are *swelling and redness of the skin (most commonly between the toes) * your dog licking the area a lot *head shaking constantly or a head tilit (if down the ear) The best way to prevent grass seed issues are to keep your dogs hair short and check their fur regularly.

04.01.2022 Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful pet Mums, for all the love and devotion you give to your precious furry family.

03.01.2022 We are very happy to announce from Monday, 2nd November we will be resuming clients attending consults inside the clinic with their pet. We will be allowing one person to attend the consult. We apologise we cannot currently have multiple people in the consult room due to room size limitations. We are also excited to announce that our Puppy Preschool classes will be resuming on Sunday, 8th November. For the safety of you, the community and the North Road team please see below... our management protocols. - please call the clinic on 95964804 when you arrive in the car park, we kindly ask you not to come directly into the clinic, so we can ensure we do not exceed the maximum capacity within the clinic at any time. - we will advise you when you are able to enter the clinic for your pets consultation - as per current government regulations all clients are required to wear a mask. - we ask you to hand sanitise at our sanitiser station on entering the clinic and to maintain safe social distancing, also standing behind the designated lines - if you or a member of your household is unwell with cold or flu symptoms, please advise us so we can discuss with you other arrangements for your pet to be seen by us. Unfortunately, you will not be able to attend the clinic. - please ring and preorder food/medications, and call the clinic from the car park on arrival for pick up. - we are requesting cashless payments. We thank you all for your ongoing understanding and patience as we continue to work together through these difficult and challenging times.

03.01.2022 Referring to the inflammation of the pancreas, pancreatitis is a common yet serious health condition experienced by dogs. The pancreas aids in the digestion of food and the release of insulin; when left untreated, pancreatitis can be fatal. Certain factors can increase the risk of developing pancreatitis, however, cases can appear out of the blue and sometimes an exact cause isn't clear. Learn about the symptoms, causes, risks, and treatment of pancreatitis in dogs in our new blog post: https://www.northroadvet.com.au//what-is-pancreatitis-in-d
