18.01.2022 CHANGES TO WEEKEND FEES This notice is to advise all patients that with effect 1 May 2019 we will no longer bulk bill patients on Saturdays. We are saddened that we are forced to make this change but we are no longer able to consume the burden of ever increasing overheads coupled with the reduction of Medicare item numbers.... If you are facing financial hardship please discuss optional payment arrangements with your Doctor. We will NEVER turn anyone away. We appreciate your support and understanding. 13.01.2022 MY DOCTORS ARE MY SUPERHEROs They saved lives today! Although, they may not know who it was or how they did it.... Maybe it was the routine pap smear that will come back as a high-grade precancerous lesion and be surgically removed before it turns nasty. Maybe it was the pertussis vaccination they gave to a pregnant patient that will save her future three-month-old baby from the potentially lethal germs of the coughing kid-next-door. Or perhaps it was the softly spoken and profoundly depressed man who unburdened his woes to them before going home and deciding that today he wont kill himself after all. In general practice, they dont often get the adrenaline-fuelled immediate gratification of snatching patients from the jaws of death (although, emergency presentations gives them enough of that!). Rather, they leave our clinic each day knowing that the flaps of all those butterfly wings will prevent some unknown catastrophe from befalling some unknown patient at some unknown time in the future. This kind of life saving is satisfying in its own quiet way, even if it doesnt come with quite so many outpourings of praise and gratitude. The fact is, as a group, they are INCREDIBLY good at saving lives. THANK YOU MY SUPERHEROs Inspired by articles written by Dr Penny Wilson Dr Wilson is an Australian GP obstetrician and rural locum doctor working in British Columbia, Canada.

13.01.2022 Wishing all our patients and families a very happy and safe Christmas.

13.01.2022 EXERCISE RIGHT WEEK 2019: The importance of active ageing Keeping active is vital as we age, and this week, EXERCISE RIGHT is championing this statement. Exercise provides a wide range of benefits. With 7 in 10 older Aussies overweight or obese, and 1 in 5 over 65s experiencing disabilities that severely limits their activity, exercise not only helps to manage weight, but it improves mobility and independence. ... It also reduces the risk of falls, as 1 in 3 older adults will experience a fall in any given year; and with 87% of over 65s living with 1 of 8 chronic conditions, exercise helps to both prevent and manage chronic disease. Despite all this, only 17.2% of those aged over 65 are meeting the physical activity guidelines. So why arent older Australians exercising? Research tells us that 44% of older adults say injury or poor health stops them from exercising. Others say theyre unsure where to find the right advice to start exercising, whilst some dont know how to simply modify exercise programs to suit their fitness levels and health status. In light of this, Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) is this year dedicating its 2019 campaign, Exercise Right Week, to educate not only older Australians, but the entire country, that an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) can help keep you active as you age. An Accredited Exercise Physiologist specialises in working with those who are living with chronic conditions, illnesses and disabilities to exercise safely in a way that is right for them and their health. Working in a wide variety of locations, from aged care communities to hospitals and private clinics, AEPs provide services that are also claimable with Medicare, DVA and most private health funds. Why not make this week a new start, contact a local Accredited Exercise Physiologist and get moving!

10.01.2022 More than five million Australians already have a My Health Record, which provides a summary of their key health information, delivering better health outcomes for patients and their treating doctors and specialists. Every Australian will be offered a My Health Record unless they choose not to have one during the three month opt out period that will run from 16 July to 15 October 2018. The My Health Record system and opt out process has the full support of all state and terri...tory governments, who unanimously agreed to this plan in August 2017 at COAG Health Council. My Health Record also has the unanimous support from Australias peak health bodies, including the Australian Medical Association, the Royal College of Australian General Practitioners, Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association and the Consumers Health Forum. The protection of patient information is critical and the My Health Record system has strong safeguards in place to protect the health data. It is also subject to some of the strongest legislation in the world to prevent unauthorised use. Australians can cancel their My Health Record at any time after the end of the opt out period or create one, if they opted out. More information is available online at https://www.myhealthrecord.gov.au/ or by calling 1800 723 471.

They can build a CITY, be silly with monsters, fly to the moon, meet some fairies, create the next Mona Lisa......... Oh and if they have time they can see the Doctor.
