25.01.2022 Dear members, Some of you may have seen the recent article regarding the alleged use of racial slurs during a basketball game in Canberra on the weekend. The article serves as a timely reminder to players, coaches, parents and volunteers that we all have a role to play in preserving the integrity of the game and doing our part to uphold the values of the sport.... At Norths we strive to foster a community of equality and inclusion, where players of all ages and skill levels can come together to share their love of basketball. We pride ourselves on being a Development Club and believe that everyone should have the opportunity to play basketball in a safe and supportive environment. To that end, please do not hesitate to raise the issue if you observe or become aware of any behaviour that contradicts this intent. This can be raised with the team manager or coach in the first instance, or by contacting our senior committee members including myself. Together we can send a clear message that any behaviour that undermines equality and inclusion has no place in our sport. 22.01.2022 Another good watch. Keep up to date with what's happening around Canberra.

20.01.2022 If you haven't seen already, stage 3 easing of restrictions will be postponed for another 2 weeks. Keep across the restrictions in place and remember, when at games and training, to keep up with good hand hygiene and distancing. Keep up the good work everyone! It makes a huge difference.

I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our earlier statement which affirms the Norths' commitment to a safe and supportive environment that champions equality and inclusion. While none of the allegations have been made against Norths players, it is a timely reminder that we all have a responsibility to uphold the values and spirit of the game. 15.01.2022 Coaches motivate teams in different ways at Norths, our under 16 div 2 Storm coach promised to train with the boys in fancy dress if they toppled the top team. So with 3 seconds to go the boys snagged a 1 point win and here is their reward

11.01.2022 Our under 19 premier boys with a couple of ring ins from our senior premier team played a practice match against WNBL Sydney Uni Flames to help in their preparation for the WNBL season start next week. Great game, it might even have been a win to the boys

10.01.2022 UPDATE: Basketball ACT has provided an updated information sheet regarding the next stage of easing restrictions in the territory. Please read these carefully and note the changes to spectators. Please, where possible, keep your distance, wash your hands regularly and ensure you do not show up to trainings or games if you are sick. We want to keep playing basketball and seeing our friends; please do not come to training or games if you have been to a hot spot recently. Follow the direction of ACT Health and please let us know if you have any questions.

07.01.2022 REMINDER | BACT Club Games This Weekend: Please ensure that we all enjoy games and seeing friends this weekend by remembering that: - doors lock after the end of the first quarter so anyone who wants to watch the game must be in before then;... - trash talking is not acceptable behaviour and will be dealt with accordingly; and - Parents who are on the score bench must remain impartial to the game (ie they are not allowed to cheer or coach while doing score bench). Have a great weekend with warmer weather on the way; stay safe and play hard.

06.01.2022 2021 - Enhanced High Performance Program Announcement Basketball ACT is proud to announce a new and exciting approach in 2021 to our existing High Performance P...rogram. Today's announcement, will expand and strengthen BACT's representative pathways, and look to support and benefit our players on that journey. In 2021, BACT will: - create a Canberra Nationals Academy; - participate in the newly proposed Junior Premier League, organised by Basketball NSW, and - transition the U12 Boys and Girls program into Development, and introduce the U12's Futures Program.

02.01.2022 Attention Norths members, any pre-owned basketball boots that are still good and need a new home please donate to the bin at the end of court 1 at Belconnen stadium. They are then re-homed to a pair of feet in need the latest happy feet are in a re-homed size 3

01.01.2022 UPDATE: because of the bad weather this evening and weekend, Basketball ACT has asked that parents, carers and players remain in their cars until 10 minutes before their games. If you are playing at Belconnen on courts 1 and 2, please keep an eye out for signs for your courts, either near the front door or under the shelter of the shops next to the stadium. Please do not go to the dirt carpark area as it's too muddy. Basketball ACT is also reminding everyone that only one p...arent/carer per participating player is allowed in the stadiums at both Belconnen and Tuggeranong, with no additional spectators or siblings allowed. Please do not to leave other children alone in cars while their sibling is playing - this is illegal and is not safe. Have a spectacular weekend and enjoy all your games!!
