25.01.2022 ‘’Time spent playing with children is never wasted’’ Dawn Lantero Our junior preschool children like to engage in experiences that involve the use of real too...ls. When children use hammers, nails, screwdrivers, and screws they put into practice their practical skills, self-esteem, confidence, fine motor skills, concentration, and perseverance. At Innovative Early Learning, we highly supervise children when playing with the hammers, screwdrivers, nails, and screws. This also provides a bonding experience between children and their teachers. ‘’I will make a table. Then I will make another table, but smaller. I can put all the tables together. From the biggest one to the smallest one’’ Xiyue ‘’Look, I am making a tower. I use screws, a screwdriver, and a hammer. My tower is so big. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. It has 5 pieces of wood’’ - Lauren Play with real tools has many pros: - Real tools are more interesting to children, which naturally leads children to be more positively and constructively invested in their use and in the experiences as a whole - The use of real tools in the preschool gives children a sense of accomplishment and a deeper desire for constructing, building, engineering, and creating - The use of real tools honours children’s abilities and intelligence and sends the message that they are capable constructors and engineers - The use of real tools naturally leads to a range of other meaningful experiences, such as science, nature, construction, engineering, math, literacy, and language

04.01.2022 Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it. Lao Tzu As the weather is getting warmer, our children have been enjoying our wate...r play experiences in our outdoor area. Our friends love engaging in our water exploration as well as enjoying the sensory aspect. Water is an important natural material that provides hours of absorbing fun and a multitude of wonderful development and learning opportunities. It helps children develop fine motor, hand- eye coordination, sensory and scientific concepts. It also enhances social skills and encourages cooperation for all ages. Our children are also guided on the importance of water as a precious natural resource. At Innovative Early Learning, we ensure our children are able to engage in meaningful holistic experiences. With the weather getting hotter, we are able to offer water play experiences throughout the day and ensure each of our children are sun safe with sun cream applied twenty minutes prior to outdoor play and ensuring children have sunhats on their heads.
