22.01.2022 Where were you 19 years ago today, when reports started coming in about a plane hitting the Twin Towers in New York. 246 ordinary people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights, 2,606 office staff went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning, 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and 8 paramedics all went to sleep in preparation for their shift. We received a beautiful card in the post this week, sent by an elderly resident in Wembley. It went as follows: Thank you so very much to volunteers SES. 17.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce that our very own Jim MacLean ESM has again been nominated as a finalist for the Peter Keillor Award, the highest award that can be bestowed upon any SES volunteer in Western Australia. An outstanding achiever, Jim joined the SES in 1982. With 38 years worth of service under his belt, there are precious few major incidents in WA that Jim has not been a part of. Jim is a man with the noble conviction, motivation and commitment to always assist and ...help out his fellows and the greater community. 14.01.2022 Proud Local Manager moment. Just received an SMS message from someone that our volunteer crews helped over the weekend. It said: "I can't praise your team highly enough. They were prompt, cheerful in the rain, and very efficient. Rain was leaking onto my ceiling through broken tiles, which they replaced and averted a much larger problem for me. I haven't needed it before, but the SES provides a wonderful service. 02.01.2022 Time to celebrate! Tonight we presented Jon Kirk with a certificate marking his 100th callout as a member of Northshore SES. Having joined us in June 2011, Jon has clocked up an amazing 413 callout hours, or 17.2 days. And remember, this is on top of the weekly training and weekend courses commitments. Jon's first 100 callouts were made up of:... 32 x missing person searches, 1 x forensic search, 58 x storm jobs, 3 x fire support jobs, 3 x car V houses, 1 x tree down (non storm related) and 2 x ceiling collapses.
