25.01.2022 Midstate Freight Caves Classic Rally STAGE OVERVIEW: SS4 Beemerang 1 A cracker of a stage that has some steep downhill sections and a few changes in surface from granite to clay. This one will be a drivers favourite with the main Beemerang Forest Road in excellent condition. The last 3km of this stage winds its way through open country with the views across grazing land, so dont forget to keep your eyes on the road! Partner for this stage: Premier Pools

25.01.2022 Midstate Freight Caves Classic Rally STAGE OVERVIEW: SS7 Essington 2 The repeat run over Essington will no doubt see a few records broken as teams are now familiar with the extra few kilometres that have been added to the middle of the stage. If you remember last years layout, in 2020 the stage now ends at Chain of Ponds Road at the perimeter of the forest. Logging has prevented us using the last 5 kilometres from last years event. But its still an awesome stage! Partner for this stage: Shamrock Haulage Pty Ltd

25.01.2022 The organising team for the Midstate Freight Caves Classic Rally are currently working on options for a new date to run the event. A new date for the event will need to conform with Motorsport Australia and NSW Health directives. At this stage there has been no decision made on a new date, and NSSCC will provide updates as progress is made. For those who have already entered, if the event does not go ahead, a full refund will be provided. Thanks for your patience and understanding. In the meantime, we plan to feature the road conditions in the forests by continuing to post images and information about the stages planned for the 2020 event.

25.01.2022 We may have had to cancel the January 2021 edition of Collecting Cars Auto Brunch, but we decided we'd upload a few photos from previous editions.

16.01.2022 The EIS for the new Sydney International Speedway has been released by the NSW government and it's construction and ongoing operations may result in major impacts on NSSCC events, especially the Tarmac Rallysprint Series and Khanacross series. Whilst we are supportive of the new Speedway, we want to make sure that our events are considered in the proposed development. Otherwise we could be without a venue in the short term and the longer term prospects for these events could... also be in jeopardy unless they are addressed before construction commences. There are potential opportunities for even better NSSCC events in the future, which the club will need to highlight in a response to the EIS. We will also need to address any potential impacts the new facilities could have on our events. NSSCC and Motorsport Australia have already made representations to the NSW State Government, so we were ready for the EIS, but we now have just 29 days to submit a response. We'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas. Please post your comments below and share this post to get the news out. You can also send comments directly to [email protected] We'd also encourage anyone to respond to the EIS directly at: https://www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au/major-projects//30111 A virtual display with the EIS documents, videos, and 360 degree visualisations for the proposed speedway is now available to view at https://v2.communityanalytics.com.au/tfnsw/si-speedway

16.01.2022 You don't need a Rally Car, Race Car, Track Car or any sort of special vehicle to compete in the Whiteline Tarmac Rallysprint. Check out the video to see some of the cars in action and then head to https://nsscc.com.au/portal/index.php/events to enter.

11.01.2022 A message to the Rally fraternity from Jon Thomson. As Clerk of Course for the Midstate Freight Caves Classic rally, I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding in the face of our need to have to postpone the event, due to the NSW Health directive on regional and state sports events. In announcing our new date of 10th October, we acknowledge that it would not be the optimal timing in a normal year, but this is not a normal year. We didnt have a state... round until July, so the first six months were lost to the crisis. Ideally we would be running the Caves on 5th September as originally scheduled, but the crisis intervened again. The 10th October is now the only weekend available on which to run a delayed Caves Classic rally. The NSW Health directive does not end until 1st October, that means the 3rd October is on the Long Weekend and not possible. The Bathurst 1000 is now on 17-18 October, so that rules that weekend out. The 24th October is just one week away from Monaro Stages, so that date is not feasible. As I say Monaro Stages is on 31 October while the National Capital Rally is on 28 November, so the 7th, 14th and 21st November are all out, because any one of them is too close to both of those rallies, and would mean three state rounds in four weeks. Going into December is also not possible because it is outside the permitted Forestry window. That means that we had no choice, it is either 10th October or not at all. At NSSCC, as a very strong rally club, we feel obligated and compelled to give rallyists and the rally community a great rally that ensures the Championship means something with four strong rounds and some great competition in a really tough and difficult year. We know you cant please everyone all the time, but we have gone out of our way to make sure the Caves route takes in the smoothest and best roads available in the Oberon area and we hope that you as competitors come and have a go, because you wont be disappointed. It is also the only roadbook rally in the NSW Championship and I can promise you that it is a really fantastic, enjoyable and fun drivers rally. So thanks for your patience and understanding and we look forward to seeing you at Oberon on 10th October. Jon Thomson Clerk of Course

11.01.2022 Midstate Freight Caves Classic Rally STAGE OVERVIEW: SS3 - Essington 1 Another forest with low trees and fast roads. Essington Road has been recently graded and looks awesome! There are some super-fast straight sections in this stage, interrupted by T-intersections and plenty of turn rights and turn lefts into side roads. Partner for this stage: Specialised Brake and Clutch Service

11.01.2022 Midstate Freight Caves Classic Rally STAGE OVERVIEW: SS5 Staceys Starting in tall old growth pine plantation, the stage quickly moves onto the main forest road and into clear felled areas. This is a repeat of the 2019 stage and is the only stage that is 100% the same as last year. The roads head back into tall dark forest for the last 3km, so be careful of those BIG trees. Partner for this stage: Premier Panel Beating

10.01.2022 The Leyland P76 is an iconic car in Australia and Matthew Bryson was at the November 2020 round of Whiteline Tarmac Rallysprint. Sitting in the co-drivers seat was Matt’s Dad, John Bryson. John is a legend in rallying circles having won multiple Southern Cross Rallies, competed in the 1968 and 1977 London to Sydney Marathons, the 1979 Repco Round Australia Trial as well as many other rallies here in Australia and also abroad. John co-drove for Scotsman Andrew Cowan in the S...outhern Cross Rally, competed with Evan Green in the Australian Rally Championship, was a past President of North Shore Sporting Car Club and was inducted into the Rally Hall of Fame in 2015. In this video we have a very quick chat to Matt about the P76, the history of the car and why he is taking his dad, John, for a ride. 08.01.2022 Midstate Freight Caves Classic Rally STAGE OVERVIEW: SS9 Staceys 2 The start of Staceys is dark even in the midday sun, so with night fall now well upon us, this stage will be deepest darkest in the tall pine forests for the first few kilometres. Once you hit the open sections, be careful of the two really hard to see corners that will surely catch out a few teams. 07.01.2022 Update - Midstate Freight Caves Classic Rally: Due to recommendations from NSW health, Motorsport Australia has released the update below, which affects the Caves Classic event. The organising team will look at opportunities for a new date and provide further details and information over the coming days. Thanks for your understanding. __________________________________________ The NSW Chief Health Officer has implemented new restrictions which will impact the ability for even...ts to go ahead in New South Wales. As of 19 August, no national or state level events (both Championships and Series) can be held anywhere in NSW. Regional events may continue, in line with Motorsport Australias Return To Race strategy and NSW restrictions, which will allow for local events for local competitors only, with no overnight stays. For a current state-by-state update, visit Motorsport Australias COVID-19 Resource Centre. On a national level, no events are currently being permitted in Victoria, however events are being successfully held in other states around Australia in line with Return To Race.
