24.01.2022 Engagement in correct positioning of the thumb into opposition, rather than allowing an over-active adductor pollicis forcing the thumb into a tight, supinate lateral pinch grip position. Looking for opportunities to teach correct thumb positioning for good CMC alignment is essential, especially if the MCPJ is fused.

22.01.2022 I’m always looking for ways to teach my patients good thumb posture. Plucking basil leaves to make pesto was ideal for this early thumb MCP fusion patient, who struggled to get a good pronated opposition pinch, but who persevered. As you can see the effort was with it!

17.01.2022 This lady reported having significantly less night disturbances due to pain, once she started wearing the splint at night.

10.01.2022 ALL THINGS NEW | Live at Home As I welcome in the new year I want to be aware of the transformative work of Christ in me, making what is old new again, or doing... away with the old altogether. He is our hope for 2021. We recorded this as an acoustic bonus track for my latest EP. My dear friend Bek joins me on vocals.

10.01.2022 This lady reported significantly less night disturbances due to pain once she started to wear this night splint.

08.01.2022 This lady has painful hyper-mobile joints and could only generate just over 6 lbs pinch force. With her fingers stabilized in these custom made silver splints she could generate almost 16 lbs force. She was very happy. Photos used with permission.

04.01.2022 This lady had a distal radius fracture 12 weeks ago whilst on holidays. She had it conservatively managed. Today she can’t extend her thumb. Why? Ruptures of EPL at Lister’s tubercle happen in 5/10% of DR# and often at the 8-10 week mark. She is also experiencing disturbing SDRN pain. This taping technique has reduced the nerve pain and supported her IPJ, whilst deciding whether to follow up with a surgical review. Will she go ahead with the EI to EPL transfer? Stay tuned!
