25.01.2022 2016 Renault traffic . #DPF DPF Block fixed!! I was presented with this car a few days ago with a very badly blocked up DPF ( over 700Mbars ) of back pressure this is very bad and if we was to try to do a force regeneration with a Scan tool then the DPF would be damaged !!! Therefore, in the wrong hands this car could cost thousands to repair! Lucky for the owner I have had training from the DPF doctor (Darren Darling) in the UK With the industry leading DPF assessment I... carry out I got to the root cause of why the DPF was so badly blocked up After I fixed the underling problems with this car it was time to get the DPF bad to normal I carried out a special 3 parts DPF cleaning process using JLM special DPF Cleaning system. I would like to make this clear please Do not do this without the Special Training that I got in the UK This car has high pressure and low EGR systems !!!! if just put in the clearing system in the DPF and then start the motor and give it a big rev you will damage the motor ( bend the rods ) So, STOP and only let someone with DPF training do this!! After the special JLM cleaning system I went for extended drive and data log the system Was incredibly happy only 5 MBars This car was fixed with no parts needed and was ready to give back to the Customer Without having to put in a new DPF or removed the DPF (Not an easy job) For all your DPF Problems just give me a call See more

19.01.2022 #Alfa Romeo Giulietta #odometer #flashing #fixed . I was asked today if I can see why this car had the dash flashing all the time ? This car is not a very popular car in Australia and most workshops would not take this job on ! But lucky for the customer I have a lot of experience on Fiat and Alfa cars . so I scan the car to see what I could come with ? in the body control system we had a failed Node ! ( This is the Convergence telematic node ) This is where most works...hops would be lost on where to go next ! . On this system when one of the Nodes goes down part of the can network the dash flashers . So what do we do next ? I find the Convergence telematic node ( see the photos I put up ) This is part of the Bluetooth module its behind the glovebox on this car . So I find the module and make sure all power and grounds are ok after testing it all the inputs i was 100 sure this module had failed ! This part cost more the $1000 and have to be coded in to the system . after talking to the car owner they ask me to see if can just stop the dash from flashing ? can this be done without fitting a new module ? With the right scan tool this can be done ? you need to reconfigure the body module so set up the car with battery support and I reconfigure the system with out the module not something you should do if you don't know what your doing but it can be done ! I was happy with the results no more flashing dash . But best of all we had a happy customer that had a car with no more flashing dash . They just lost there Bluetooth system . If any one needs any help with there Alfa or fiat with a #flashing dash then just give me a call i here to help See more

19.01.2022 Here is a challenge for all you technician people out there ? I will put a video up about a Alfa Romeo Giulientta with a flashing odometer? That came into my workshop a few days ago It's a very common problem on the Fiat and Alfa cars when one of the can systems detect a fault the odometer will flash? I scan the car and it came up with ( Convergence telematics node ) Has failed? ... The car is now fixed Your challenge today is what would be your diagnostic approach? The answer to how I fixed this car Will be up in a few hours enjoy See more

17.01.2022 I just got this fantastic book from Tom Denton Advanced Automotive Fault Diagnosis And I am honored that to have one of my Case studies published in this book

14.01.2022 #subaru Tribeca 3.6 engine #P0171 #Fixed .I was asked a few days ago to have a look at this subaru tribeca 3.6 engine with the ECM light on this car had NO drivability problems But the ECM light was on and with most new cars we had no cruise control , traction control with this light on . I scan the car for codes and we had miss fire codes and P0171 ( lean codes ) so how do we go about finding a positive answer to why this car had this code ? . the best tool we have is look ...at the freeze frame data to see when the P0171 code was logged ? I could see that it log it at 1500 rpm and at 58 kms a hour and we had +25 on the fuel trims . So I knew that was not a vacuum leak . I set up the scan tool and data log the car and I could see we had + 20 most of the time ? so time to get back to the work shop and do a few tests ? So what do we test for ? we have to think what test do we need to do ? we have to find out why this car is lean all the time ? can it be the wide band O2 out of calibration ? or the MAF out or air leaks fuel pump low flow lots to test ? but from the data log I did I knew it was Not the 02 sensors and I could see the 02 going full rich when my foot down so fuel flow was ok ? so what do we test next ? the MAF could be out this would make it run lean and the G/per sec on the scan data it did not look right ? so I did a smoke test of the induction system , and there was the problem the throttle had a second air box that was downstream of the MAF sensor . that had a big leak this made the MAF sensor be out of calibration given us the P0171 code check out the photo's. with a bit of logic thinking and a bit of detective work I had a positive answer to why this car had the code P0171 and of course a happy customer . 12.01.2022 #Holden #Commodore #VE sv6 sidi 2010 #missfire I was presented with this car a few days ago to see if I can come up with a positive reason why this car was miss firing ? Like all miss fires we should always check the mechanical condition of the engine before we dive to deep into the engine management systems of the car . I set up my scope and did a relative compression test have a look at the scope pattem on my PC and was happy what I seen to look ok ? But did it ? ( check... out the screen captures I put up ) it look ok so I save it and called it compression OK !!!???? But then I had a good look at it with more detail and wow I almost miss it we had 3 cylinders just a bit less then the rest of the 3 ? when I see this most times it because we have a timing issues with the engine ? so it was time to get out the WPS500 X pressures transducer and go in cylinder analysis This car would misfire on 3 cylinders 1.3.and 5 only when the engine was past 2000 RPM and you can see the misfires on mode 6 of scan data and then the ECU would cut out the injectors to save the cat this car had only misfire codes ? ( no codes was set for timing being out ) so I set up the WPS500X in the cylinder number 4 the bank with no miss fire and run the car with the pressure sensor in the cylinder and wow check out what i see almost 200 PSI !! any one with doing pressures analysis will know that 200 PSI with the motor at 750 RPM is not right I now know why we have the miss fire the valve timing is out on this engine ! I then set up the WPX500X in to cylinder number 5 and you can all see there is a big difference in the scope . This is the why we all need to check the mechanical condition of a engine when we are looking for misfires on a engine . Any one that needs help with hard to find misfire just give me a call See more

11.01.2022 #MazdaCX9 #Missfire #Fixed I was asked today to have a look at this car with a miss fire only at idle? This car had 6 new coils and spark plugs but would still miss fire at idle and the ECM light would come on with a P0305 so I set up a relative compression test and it look great, look at freeze frame data and seen it would log P0305 only at idle? So I look at fuel trims and seen that the bank with the miss fire was added fuel .... So I knew now it was a fuel problem? Vacuum leak , injectors? Smoke up systems no leaks So I asked the workshop that give me the job to remove the manifold and pull the injectors out so I could flow test them I always check the coil windings of the injectors before I flow test them You can all see with the photos I put up the number 5 injector was bad This is the importance of a good diagnostic approach and knowing what to test This car was fixed 100% and no guess work Give me a call if you need any help with your car See more
