A training journey that can lead to many memorable moments that exist through action. Whether it be to finish our first run, to conquer a mountain by bike, to keep up with our kids as they start to find a new pace or to finish a workout we didnt think we could. The training process enables these moments. It is always a valuable ex...perience and even more so when shared with your people. It may change its route along the way or at different times, but the principles remain the same. We have a part time position available which would require some rock star to help us run the Northside Group program, along with an opportunity to grow with our Northside Personal and Online services!... You know those moments where we have a smile ear to ear and your working your arse off? Yeah those. So what's the plan?... Monday the 28th is when the fun is scheduled to begin! And what fun do we speak of? Personalised sessions delivered with all of the gear, many good ideas and potentially some Melbourne Spring sunshine as we start doing our good weather dance. We've handpicked 2 glorious locations to bring our training sessions to our local crew (it does look like you'll need to live within 5 km). George Knott Reserve (Collingwood Athletics Track), Clifton Hill and Quarries Park, Clifton Hill is where the action is going to take place. This sounds dreamy guys.. are you telling me there is an option to train outside, with an experienced coach, that can bring every bit of useful gym equipment to a local park... AND... I don't have to worry about squashing my cat or children while doing bulgarian split squats with jelly legs? YEP. You got it in one. AND... If you've got a training buddy or someone you'd just like to hang out with for 45 minutes (and to divert our attention between you and your mate), why not get them involved and spread the love. So where to from here? And back to use social media for more than just keeping up to date with the @betootaadvocate So as the Northside crew makes their way back into the studio raring to go.. we thought we should probably share some thoughts on how and why we do the things we do.. and what better discussion to start with than how to get the most of your training. Ticking the attendance box works... for a little bit...... but eventually we need to dial in the attention a little and start being a little more.. purposeful. A little less random and a little more targeted. So for this we look at 3 things. 1. Intent of exercise - What outcome or positive change are we trying to create and why? Example.. Is it that we want to build leg strength utilising various leg based exercises that are low risk, high reward or are we simply trying to keep up with the influencer that has 13,000 followers and did a "fully sick" barbell trick with their t-shirt off in 12 degree weather. 2. Movement Quality - Do we have the prerequisites to get the most out of the prescribed activity or do we need to regress or progress to get more out of it? Learn how to control your body first, enhance your range of motion to what is required and pay attention to what you're doing... Ever tried to learn Spanish whilst listening to music and reading a book simultaneously? Good luck. 3. Feel the stimulus - You decided you want to get strong. You need to put some work in. To feel that you're taxing the body enough for the body to respond with increased muscle mass, improved muscle activation, greater nervous system control. You also decided you better put some time in on the engine so you don't end up being an individual that is all show and no go. Cardio matters too. Oh and then you need to keep showing up. That also helps. A lot. 01.01.2022 The future for @northsidemvmt We will be offering 3 training services that we feel will provide the different levels of support, individualisation and accessibility to our training community. NORTHSIDE GROUP... We will be expanding our Northside Group training service which will maintain our existing @prideathletic womens only classes, while introducing regular mixed training offerings in the way of our Squad, Cycle and Recovery sessions GREAT for those looking for high quality exercise prescription, a supportive training community and a small group setup. (More details on our classes tomorrow) NORTHSIDE PERSONAL Our personal training service will continue to develop with an improved assessment process, regular progress checks and utilisation of the @pt_distinction training app for providing additional training programs when away from the studio. GREAT for those with very specific training goals, just want a little extra 1 on 1 time or rehabbing an injury. NORTHSIDE ONLINE Were on the computer.. literally. The online training service will cater to our members when they cant make it into the studio (bloody kids) or those that dont have access to our studio in Clifton Hill for the group training service.
