25.01.2022 Face to Face Lessons are back at School Of Music Perth! You can read Jarred's official statement below - otherwise we look forward to welcoming back our parents, students and teachers to our Morley and Warwick schools! "Hi everyone, We are very excited & happy to inform you that face-to-face tuition has officially resumed at our Morley School and will resume at Warwick from the 18th May Week 4 of Term 2, 2020. ... We have made this decision primarily based on the easing of many restrictions as announced by the premier Mr McGowan on Sunday May 10th, combined with the many requests from the majority of you to return to face-to-face lessons as soon as it is safe to do so. Please be assured for the safety of our students and staff members, all rooms and instruments have been professionally cleaned and wipes/sprays will be available at all times. We will also continue to ensure cleanliness is kept to the highest standards moving forward. Also, we are asking students and teachers to make sure to keep within the guidelines in terms of social distancing and good hygiene. We will also ask all parents to keep our waiting room as clear as possible. Please do not wait for your child in the waiting room as we need to keep numbers within the school as low as possible. Also please do not attend if the student is unwell with any flu like symptoms. In the case you prefer to keep your lessons online we will also keep this alternative available to you at your normal time slot. Our teaching staff can perform online lessons from the school if this is your preference or your circumstances dictate this to be necessary. 21.01.2022 - School Of Music Perth COVID-19 Update - Due to the increasing impacts of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and as further restrictions relating to travel were advised by the Australian federal government over the weekend we would like to update you with our stance here at the Warwick and Morley Schools of Music. Our focus is always on our people (Students, Teachers, Parents) and their safety and well-being, along with the broader public. ... With the situation evolving quickly, we would like to assure all of our students and parents that our high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in both our schools has and always will be strictly implemented by our teachers and staff and that our regular efforts have been ramped up even more during this difficult time. We also ask that responsibility is taken by each student, parent and teacher attending the school, with washing hands frequently and taking all the recommended measures possible to prevent the spread. How can we help limit the spread of COVID-19? Some simple steps we can take to protect ourselves and others are: - Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or hand sanitiser - Cover your cough or sneeze with a paper tissue or your elbow, dispose of tissues in the bin - Keep your hands away from your face (eyes/nose/mouth) - If youre unwell, stay at home, avoid contact with others - Avoid close contact with anyone who has a cold or flu-like symptoms - If you suspect you have COVID-19, call your health provider who will determine the actions you need to take - Practice social distancing Please keep up to date with local health requirements, read updates (Medical information and guidance is available from www.health.gov.au) and take the appropriate actions Please keep us informed so we can take precautionary measures in the event yourself or a close family or friend you have been in contact with a COVID19 affected person. 20.01.2022 Attention music lovers and students of School Of Music Perth! Were happy to announce that the date for our ROCK 2019 concert has been announced! You can read the announcement from Jarred below: "Hi Music Lovers... I am very excited to announce to you all that we have locked in the date and venue for the first of two annual SOM concerts. The first will be the ROCK concert catering to the more contemporary artist and the second will be the TRAD (traditional) concert which will cater to the Classical / Jazz musician. The TRAD concert date and venue has yet to be confirmed but its not far away. So lets start with the ROCK concert. This gives the opportunity for students of guitar, drums, bass vocals, and contemporary piano to perform live on stage with industry professionals. Between you and your teacher you can decide what would be your best song to perform. You will be given the chance to first rehearse it with the band, before you get to perform it on the big stage, in front an audience including all your friends and family. Sound like fun? Are you in?... Yes, of course you are! So what now? All you need to do is click on this link https://forms.gle/9J6tey8aKNruUpcA8 and fill out the online form. Easy! It would also be a good idea to discuss with your teacher which song you want to perform. 16.01.2022 A message from Jarred - Director of School Of Music Perth Dear School Of Music Families and Friends, I think we should all be impressed with the response the community has had to COVID-19 as numbers have been consistently low for the past few weeks. Please stay safe and continue to do what youre doing!... Here at School Of Music Perth - although we have come back to Term 2 with ONLINE lessons, we are also mindful of the recent wonderful developments and are carefully considering taking steps to open our school to physical face-to-face lessons. We want to do this because of the feedback we are getting from many of you & because we know its the best way to teach & learn. Based on our Prime Ministers suggestion - easing of restrictions will kick in from 11 May 2020 - this is our TARGET (ie. consider re-opening our doors week beginning 11 May 2020). We will have more details to come very soon. In the meantime please stay safe, happy and dont forget Practice LOTS! Jarred
