This event provided a chance for staff, students, parents and the broader community to pray together to dedicate everything that we do at Northside Christian College for God’s glory and purposes. 20.01.2022 CURRICULUM DAY Wednesday 25th November 2020 A reminder that this Wednesday is a Curriculum Day at Northside Christian College. There will be no classes for Prep - Year 10 students. Please note, however, that any Year 10 students who are accelerating in a Unit 2 subject this year are expected to attend their scheduled examinations on this day.... Camp Australia will be running a program, if your Primary-aged student requires care on this day.

19.01.2022 Prep 2021 transition is looking very different this year. This week, our Prep teachers met with our new Preppies via Zoom. They read a book together, the students got busy drawing a picture of their families and then they showed their amazing artwork to each other in the group. Mike introduced us to a range of Australian bushland animals including a majestic barn owl, a wriggly dingo pup, a Golden Huntsman, a Shingleback lizard and Pygmy pythons! 18.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS INSPiRE STUDENTS! Our Year 8/9 Future Problem Solving team (Andee, Sarah, Tim, Maddie) made it through to the National competition! This is an extremely challenging and rigorous competition, and these students have done extremely well to get to this level of competition. They will be competing in the Nationals via Zoom all day on Friday 16th October. 10.01.2022 This is the final week to apply for the 2021 Secondary Academic Scholarships. Applications must be received by this Friday 18th September 2020. Applications are open to existing and prospective students that are currently in Year 6 and Year 9 (three-year tenures) and those that are currently in Year 7, Year 8, Year 10 and Year 11 students (one-year tenure). 08.01.2022 ART COMPETITION In honour of Love Your Body Week on 6-12th September by the Butterfly Foundation, we are running an art competition! This is open to all Primary School and Secondary School students. The prompt or inspiration for your art should be a positive body image and loving how God has made everybody unique. This could be in the form of a picture of a butterfly, origami, painting, mosaic, clay model or whatever you would like to do - be creative! Submissions may be post...ed to the Remote Learning Facebook page through a parent or teacher or sent to homeroom teachers before 3:00 pm on the 12th of September. Students in Prep Year 4 classes will be given time to create their "Butterfly" entries during their remote art lesson in Week 9. House points will be given to all who enter, to respect the notion of positive body image. Special acknowledgment of the most creative artworks will also be given. 07.01.2022 5 TIPS FOR STAYING SANE (When the world around us seems to be going insane) 1. Reassure your children that it will be OK, because it will be. We have been through much worse.... 2. Where possible stick to your routines. Where this is not possible consciously create new routines and celebrate these. Let people know about your new routines in a positive and proactive way. 3. If you are feeling stressed remember this is simply your body and mind asking you to pay attention you have a choice about how you respond you can buy more toilet paper or you can go for a walk, talk to a friend, ring a helpline etc. 4. Be seen buying just what you need jampacked trollies will act as triggers be a role model. 5. Actively seek to be the water and not the fuel on the fire of this international crisis we face. 07.01.2022 PUBLIC SPEAKING CHAMPIONS Maddie (Year 9) and Sharun (Year 8 ) attended the Rostrum Voice of Youth Public Speaking Competition held at St Monica's College on the weekend. Congratulations to Maddie, who won the competition and has been invited to speak at the State Final in July at St Kevin's College! Her speech on shining a light on depression and vulnerability as part of the solution was extremely powerful.... 07.01.2022 YEAR 9 COASTAL CHALLENGE In Term 1, the Year 9 students went to Anglesea for an experience in developing their Growth Mindset. This experience was the first in the Year of Challenge program. The aim of this trip was for students to come away with the confidence and resilience to respond well to challenging new experiences - emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. The Year of Challenge program that runs throughout the year for our Year 9 students gives them the opp...ortunities to apply their learning in the classroom to life experiences. On Coastal Challenge, students had lessons in surfing, stand-up paddleboarding and golf. 05.01.2022 'OUR BACKYARD' ART DISPLAY Earlier in the year, our Year 3/4 students created a beautiful water lily installation made from recycled materials (CD's, water bottles and yogurt tops) to feature in the City of Whittlesea Community Festival.
