13.01.2022 A follow on from the earlier post this week at a Hendra home that was purchased 12mths ago. Upon removing the hardwood decking, I discovered the cause of the sagging deck boards. The joists were rotten with no structural integrity left in many areas. The reason why the joists were rotton was because internal framing timber was used as the structural joist members. ... The wonderful looking home was built by an owner builder and purchased 12 months ago. Unfortunately for the current owners, the builder took short cuts that are only becoming evident now. The current owners engaged a pest and building inspector at the time of purchase however this issue was never identified unfortunately. More posts and photos to follow on this job.

13.01.2022 Recently replaced stairs. New galvanized stringers with hardwood treads were installed. The upper landing joists and decking was replaced. All new posts and balustrade was installed to give a new lease of life to this entry point of a rear deck in Banyo.

13.01.2022 For anyone that has recently emailed and is yet to hear back from me, my email has been down without me realizing. It has just been fixed and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Have a great weekend :)

13.01.2022 Hendra project. After the rotten joists were removed, a waterproofing barrier was applied to the concrete base. This barrier seals the concrete so it is less porous and any ponding water will evaporate much quicker leading ro less potential of rotting any materials. The centre dirt drain was levelled and filled with drainage rock to reduce ponding of water and mosquitoes breeding.... All new joist were cut and fully sealed to ensure the logevity of the treated H3 termite proof material. The existing decking boards were removed and labelled in order of the removal sequence. By reusing the existing decking boards, this saved the customers thousands of dollars which they were thilled about. The owners were very pleased with the end product and the money that they saved.

12.01.2022 New deck completed in Nundah. All the deck joists, roof support posts, balustrading and decking was replaced to rid this beautiful old home of it's unsafe, very worn deck.

10.01.2022 Not a bad view for the end of the week.. Frame up small western wall, install with insulation and fix, set and sand plaster in preparation for wall papering. It is amazing the amount of heat that is now deflected due to this small insulated wall.
