25.01.2022 After overcoming massive hurdles, multiple surgeries, years of rehab and several new legs...we are extremely happy to welcome back our massage therapist Karen Wheeler this week. It has been a long haul but well worth the wait. I know my legs are going to be a lot happier now!

23.01.2022 Another great reason to keep exercising....and a good source.

22.01.2022 Been diagnosed with a tendon injury? Consult your physiotherapist today to learn the DOs and DONTs of tendon injuries. Every person is different but here is a short video sanctioned by @profjillcook the tendon guru with some generic tips and tricks. Come in and consult your local physiotherapist today - Bec

21.01.2022 On the weekend our former physio Mitch (Becs brother) married our former physio-aid Bridget (Helens daughter) Congratulations to the new Dr and Mrs Stanton!!! Jane takes full credit for making it happen!!! #thosewhophysiotogetherstaytogether #keepingitinthefamily

20.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day; and in the physiotherapy world nothing rings more true than asking someone if they are okay. Whether it be a physical or mental issue it is not only up to health professionals to ask but the general population as well. On this day and every day, we at Northside Sports encourage you to not only ASK the question but LISTEN to the answer. You could save a life, or change your own. #itaintweaktospeak

19.01.2022 As another Australia Day rolls in our physios will be taking a well needed mental health day... in the mean time look after yourself, your mates, and drink responsibly. Our dame on the desk Helen will be back first thing Friday to answer your calls. Until then stay safe and Happy Australia Day

19.01.2022 So we are still considered essential and will be open as usual for business as the Prime Minister informed us last night. We will continue to look after all of your musculoskeletal injuries, sports injuries, stress heahaches (who doesnt have those right now) etc and hopefully take some of the heat off our GP and hospital cousins who are seriously doing it tough right now and looking only to get tougher in the coming weeks. #backupteam. (I have seriously never done hashtag thing before....feel so grown up now) Keep up the vigilant hygiene, keep up some exercise and stay well.

16.01.2022 Instead of something informative and helpful, I thought I might suggest something ridiculous today.....just for something a bit different! Who is up for some "Prancercising"??? All staff will obviously need to be trained in this new method.....

14.01.2022 An interesting article comparing treatments for recent muscle injury by the New England Journal of Medicine (Sept. 2017) "Starting rehabilitation 2 days after injury rather than waiting for 9 days shortened the interval from injury to pain-free recovery and return to sports by 3 weeks without any significant increase in the risk of re-injury" Book today to get your niggles and pains assessed by our physiotherapists!!... - Bec

14.01.2022 A great big merry christmas, happy holidays or other applicable greeting to all from the team at Northside Sports Injury Centre! We hope you stay safe and well over the holiday period. We are open until Saturday 24th and reopen on Wednesday 28th (in case of any holiday mishaps.......)

14.01.2022 After winning a GOLD MEDAL in the B Grade IFAA State Titles for Archery, Angela came in to see Bec for a full biomechanical assessment of her compound bow use. Congrats to Angela!!!

14.01.2022 Heres some more good reading people as many of you are now either working from home, or at least on restricted movement, going out less etc. Exercise is always an important part of staying healthy and can improve our immune system function and quite possibly reduce the effects of or possibly reduce our likelihood of becoming ill. Keep moving and have a read..... https://blogs.bmj.com//julie-k-silver-prehabilitation-co/

14.01.2022 While Helen and Bec were supporting the Walking On Sunshine Foundation and cancer research at the races they had a visitor... thanks again to Pete Murray for his shout out to Northside Sports Injury Centre #wosgoesgiddyup #petemurray #tryingtofindacure

13.01.2022 Getting pain in your knee? This could be coming from the area around your knee cap or "patellofemoral pain". Contact one of our physiotherapists today for a full knee assessment. Even if your have been reviewed by a doctor or surgeon it is likely physiotherapy treatment can help. In the meantime here is a short video with a few general tips in how to manage your knee pain. Always review with your GP or physiotherapist prior to undertaking any kind of treatment yourself - Bec

13.01.2022 In case you need either clarification or a laugh, whichever you prioritise most, no wrong answers.......

12.01.2022 For the first time in our known memory Northside Sports will be closing early today due to the severe weather being experienced in Brisbane. All our physios are working tirelessly to open more times throughout the next week to compensate for this disruption. If you are booked in today give the practice a call on 38823666 to move your appointment. We are extremely sorry for this inconvenience!! Stay safe out there and get home safe.

11.01.2022 Just to confirm, we are still open....there has been much talk over the weekend i primarily in NSW and VIC but the clinic will still be open. Still practising extreme hygiene and ready to help everyone get through this.

11.01.2022 Northside Sports Injury Centre will be open til Thursday and then closed over Easter (the 14th - the 17th) before re-opening on the 18th. The staff would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday period, and a Happy Easter!!! Call the practice on 38823666 to make an appointment before our physios take a well deserved break

10.01.2022 UPDATE Firstly, good news...come and check out our long awaited facelift! Secondly, update on Corona Virus, Hygiene the new distancing rules and what it all really means........ Firstly, the new 4 square metre per person for inside does not apply to us as we along with doctors are exempt (there is quite a list of exemptions). But, some maths to make you feel better anyway, our clinic is 250 square metres, so even if the rules applied, we could fit 62 people inside at one time! Even on our busiest day, we would not even go close! Our staff have all been busily completing the Australian Government Hygiene training specific for Covid 19 and we have already been implementing these procedures for the last week and a bit now. We still have hand sanitizer, soap and loo paper (no rice or pasta sorry) so please keep cleaning hands on arrival and departure. A big thank you to everyone who has been so vigilant with hygiene and with social awareness and consciousness for cancelling when unwell. Everyone in this community is doing everything in their means to keep a safe environment and if we continue to do so I believe we can get through this ok. We hope to continue providing the best quality service in a safe environment for all. We also hope to be able to assist our incredibly busy GP friends by tending to all of your musculoskeletal needs while they are run off their feet with medical concerns. Stay safe and stay clean and dont panic.....

09.01.2022 Merry Christmas from everyone at Northside Sports Injury Centre. We are now closed for Christmas and will re-open at 7:30am on Friday the 27th of December. Stay safe these holidays

08.01.2022 Heads up, I have not totally researched and fact checked this post but I just felt like putting something positive up and it looks reasonably like "not rubbish". We can all do with some positivity at the moment. Remember.....keep some form of exercise up.....good for the head, heart and immunity. Start planning that party for when this is all over.....long term goals are important!

08.01.2022 Website back up and running after slight technical glitch and therefore associated email should be back up too for those who have been trying to use it! Apologies for the inconvenience, but hopefully all good now.

07.01.2022 NSIC UPDATE As talk turns from "toiletpapergate" to the more serious implications of preventing the mass spread of covid-19, we are implementing a few changes at NSIC. Our surfaces and equipment are cleaned with Monofoil D (an Australian Medical grade 24 hour surface cleaner), this includes beds, pilates equipment, door handles tables and common surfaces. We will also not be using our usual bed sheets, or face cushions even with covers. We apologise for any reduction in c...omfort and will use single use towels where possible to mitigate this, but feel that this is a sensible precaution as it provides considerably less chance for cross contamination. We have a solid supply of soap and water, alcohol gel, and even loo paper! We are well placed and ready to continue offering the same service in a safe environment. We ask that if you are showing signs of being unwell to please call ahead and discuss and likely reschedule your appointment. All that said, our final words to one and all.... to borrow a phrase from the Hitchhikers Guide, Dont Panic. Wash your hands, stay healthy and we will all prevail over this nasty little bug.

06.01.2022 Havent post much for a while, but heres a nice little feel-good read to make us stop being so hard on ourselves and others .....

06.01.2022 Stuck at home?? Gym closed?? One on one 1/2 hour exercise session tailored to you available and claimable. Everyone who knows me, knows how much I bang on about exercise but right now it can help you stay sane, boost your immune system and manage your injuries. Not necessarily listed in order of priority as that is different for all of us.

06.01.2022 And so we will continue to provide care and hopefully help everyone through a very difficult time.

06.01.2022 Meet Monty, our new little friend rescued from the wall between our back massage room and the medical centre this afternoon. Vet checked, fed, cuddled half to death but content. ?Therapy cat in training..... In case anyone is wondering about the hole in the wall and thanks for the collaberation Warner Family Medical centre who have a matching hole in their wall where we eventually extracted him!

05.01.2022 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All from NSIC. We wish you a safe and hopefully injury free holiday period! We will be closing early at 5.oopm 24th Dec and reopening Thursday 27th. We are open normal hours throughout the Xmas and New Year period and only closed public holidays.

05.01.2022 As a Physio you are constantly asked to explain a common ailment known as a "tendinopathy". This is an excellent video representation of what a tendinopathy is, and how with appropriate physiotherapist prescribed loading and exercise a degenerative tendon can begin to restructure itself -- Bec

03.01.2022 Interesting...will get the full paper ASAP

02.01.2022 Warning, this has some bleeped out language in it, but very interesting point of view and very relevant I feel to anyone involved in insurance/workcover public health system and generally 3rd party funded health care (including out private health companies who increasingly dictate what you are entitled too!). Nothing like some thought provoking perhaps controversial conversation for a Monday morning....

01.01.2022 OK for all of you people who listen to me blather on about running but have no interest whatsoever (really thanks for your patience), here is an event to consider!!

01.01.2022 INTRODUCING OUR PHYSIO...
