24.01.2022 And before or after checking this great place out why not have a paddle with us?

24.01.2022 This morning at Blowing Rocks Preserve, our Sea Turtle Rescue team encountered an adult green turtle who had come up on the beach to nest but could not navigate... over the rocks to get back to sea. Our team walked alongside and helped her navigate to the part of the beach where the rocks were lower profile. When she arrived at the waters edge, she immediately swam out to sea. See more

23.01.2022 Hows this for a turtle-y awesome rescue story? Officers on Sweers Island in the gulf recently helped an adult green turtle who was stuck on his back https://mypolice.page.link/4HrQ

23.01.2022 Walked the Gorge today, an annual event. Never ceases to give us a bounty of marine life to look at. Turtles, mantas, dolphins. Only disappointing part was when a little Turtle popped up to say hello right next to a used coffee cup. If you haven't been to Straddy put it on to your to do list.

22.01.2022 We are set up and the water is flat and there's no wind! A bit of a rarity. Come on down we will be here hopefully until lunchtime.

09.01.2022 #Boaties are being reminded to go slow for those below after six turtles died last month due to boat strikes or propeller cuts... in Moreton Bay. We are concerned with these deaths and believe the tally could be higher as not every incident is reported. Four turtles recently killed by boats or propellers have been adult-sized. With school holidays in full swing, we are expecting to see an increased amount of traffic on our waterways and we encourage everyone who is out-and-about boating to reduce their speed in estuaries, sandy straits, shallow inshore areas and reef flats, and avoid shallow seagrass meadows if possible. Skippers travelling through go slow areas must operate their boats off the plane, and cannot operate boats in a manner or at a speed that would reasonably be expected to result in striking a turtle or dugong. Turtles and dugongs are at risk of being injured or killed when they come to the surface for air. Rangers regularly patrol Go Slow areas and boaties doing the wrong thing in a go-slow area can receive an on-the-spot fine of $533. Anyone who comes across injured, stranded or dead marine wildlife should report it by calling 1300 130 372. There are designated go-slow areas in some marine parks details are in the marine parks visitor guides and zoning plans on the our website http://ow.ly/CxVS50AnE6t. Examples of permanent go-slow areas include Double Island Point in Great Sandy Marine Park, and Amity Banks in Moreton Bay Marine Park. #qldenvironment | #goslowforthosebelow

08.01.2022 Just a reminder while we are having a break from beach hire over winter, this is still the best time of the year to get out on the water. The water is crystal clear and flat so if you would like to hire a board or have a lesson let us know.
