20.01.2022 The results of the NSPNR: Your Region, Your Input Community Survey have been compiled in the electronic publication "Your Region, Your Input Community Survey Report: Setting the course for natural resource management in North Stirlings - Pallinup". Unsurprisingly, local businesses and the Stirling Range National Park were the most valued aspects of the area, with productive agricultural environments closely following. The report recommends how NSPNR can best provide for the n...atural resource needs of the community going forward. NSPNR welcomes local residents to participate in our Strategic Planning Workshop at the Borden Pavilion on Thursday 8th October, when we will use the survey results to take the next step for planning NSPNR's future direction. Comments from the community about the report are welcomed and can be directed to Laura Page phone 0401 553 285 email [email protected] . The NSPNR: Your Region, Your Input community survey that was held in July 2020 gave people who live and work in the North Stirlings - Pallinup region the opportunity to let NSPNR know their concerns about natural resource management in the North Stirlings - Pallinup catchment and how well they felt NSPNR was delivering. We are grateful to Graze Great Southern, The Pub Borden and Wescape Photography that donated three fantastic prizes. The prizes have been drawn and the winners notified. Thank you to South Coast Natural Resource Management Inc. for funding the project, and Johanna Tomlinson (Clear South) for project management. Thank you also to the Shire of Gnowangerup and the many local businesses and organisations that gave their support to the survey. The report is available on NSPNR’s website.

17.01.2022 The NSPNR Spring Newsletter is now available. Read about NSPNR’s upcoming Young Farmers Tour and other local events, project updates, wildflower tour information for the region and NSPNR’s strategic planning workshop and AGM in October.

15.01.2022 Drought and other factors can mask soil pathogen symptoms on the ground. This harvest grain growers are encouraged to keep an eye out for poor yielding, thin patches, whiteheads and other symptoms of disease in their cereal crops from the header seat. The Grower Group Alliance is partnering with NSPNR to deliver a national GRDC-funded project titled Soilborne Pathogen Identification and Management Strategies for Winter Cereals. Typical diseases of importance are Rhizocton...ia root rot, take-all, crown rot, root lesion nematode, cereal cyst nematode, which can have significant impacts on crop growth and final yield. The project will provide hands-on workshops to help growers learn about the typical symptoms of cereal root diseases and strategies for their management. Growers who notice poorly performing areas are urged to contact GGA or its NSPNR for the opportunity to trial different management approaches. Next Steps for 2021: Hands-on workshops teaching growers how to identify and manage typical symptoms of cereal root diseases and strategies for their management Establish demonstration trials of soil pathogen management strategies Assessment of the impact of various management approaches implemented for the 2021 season; and Evaluating ongoing impacts of management strategies come the 2022 season.
