24.01.2022 A trio of Croatian Eagles take center stage in our final classic FFA Cup encounter on what was a very special evening @ Knights Stadium. Wednesday, 11th of April, 2018. FFA Cup, Round 5.... Well it just wouldn’t be an FFA Cup classic without the adversary and on this night it was no different with the Eagles being stung by 2 quick goals from the Nth Geelong Warriors inside the opening 25 minutes of the contest. Despite the slow start, optimism remained strong amongst Ben Isai’s men and it wasn’t long after that Ryan Dragovi would peg one back, scoring in the 27th minute with a fine finish having been sent in on goal via a sublime through ball delivered by Edison Ponari. The comeback would be complete early in the 2nd half with Matko Budimir scoring from a corner in the 49th minute. Back on level terms and brimming with confidence it was GAME ON as the Shqiponja faithful become more and more vocal. There would be no further addition to the scoreline during normal time and the game would head into extra time. It would be a tense and uneventful first period of extra time that would yield very little in terms of goalmouth chances for either side and that had many bracing themsleves for another nail-biting penalty shoot-out, but Daniel Dragovi had a much, much different plan. With the final minutes of the contest delicately poised for another hero to step-up and etch his name in NSEFC folklore, the experienced Eagles stalwart would step up to score not one, but two identical goals with neat finishes on his trusty right boot in the 116th & 118th minute and with that, the tie was settled. 4-2 after extra time and with that, the Mighty Eagles would also add another thrilling chapter to the club’s glittering FFA Cup storyline. Go Eagles!! #NSEFC #FlyAsOne #MagicOfTheCup

22.01.2022 Defining moments in the proud history of our club don’t come much bigger than this classic encounter. Sunday, 1st of September, 2019. State League 1 (North-West) Round 21.... A favorable result 24 hours prior would throw the race for promotion wide open and offer the Eagles a golden opportunity to leapfrog into 2nd spot on the table with just a single game remaining. A massive contingent of Eagles fans and keen onlookers from around the league would pack City Vista Recreation Reserve and what would transpire on a rainy afternoon is something that none of us will ever forget. A scoreless first half would reflect the tense atmosphere, however the game would come to life in the 68th min with Ilir Pali drawing penalty which Nick Epifano would nearly convert, however the lead would be short lived with the Georgies leveling the scores just 4 minutes later. In the 4th minute of injury time, a last gasp foray forward would unfold a sequence of events that needed to be seen to be believed as Andreas Delgado’s long range shot rebounded off the post and seemingly headed out for a goal kick, Robert Zadworny would chase it down and square the ball to the feet of Ben Isai who’s shot would somehow find a way through 5 Georgie’s and hit the back of the net. A miraculous victory that left no doubt that this amazing and resilient group would be rewarded with promotion. Go Eagles!! #NSEFC #FlyAsOne

13.01.2022 For tonight’s classic encounter we revisit an emotional roller-coaster as two rivals went head to head in a blockbuster FFA Cup tie. Wednesday, 12th of April, 2017. FFA Cup, Round 5.... As you’d expect, it didn’t take long for the action to heat up @ George Andrews Reserve and it would be the Mighty Eagles who would strike first through Diellon Memishi in the 5th minute of the contest. The Lions would hit back with an equalizer in the 36th min, but Dilly would again find the back of the net just 3 minutes later to ensure the Eagles took a 2-1 lead into the half time break. Having held on to that 21 lead for a majority of the 2nd half and with only 9 minutes left in the regulation 90, it seemed as though the Eagles would comfortably progress, however an ill timed challenge would see the Lions level it up at 2-2 via the penalty spot. Blushes appeared to be spared when Edison Ponari’s glancing header put the Eagles ahead 3-2 in the 87th minute, but yet again the Lions would find a way back, scoring via a 94th min free kick to send the contest into extra time where they’d capitalize on their momentum, taking the lead for the first time in the tie. Down 4-3, the script had effectively been flipped and it was going to take something special to avoid elimination at the hands of a bitter rival, something extraordinary, or as it would be, an unbelievable captains goal! With 120+ 3 minutes on the clock, all the Eagles hopes hinged on a final, last gasp corner and skipper Shane Rexhepi would provide the late heroics that every Eagles fan so desperately hoped for, leaping highest to meet a sublime delivery from Feston Azizi and heading home a goal that would tie the match at 4-all and force a penalty shootout. There would be no nerves in the shoot-out as Daniel Dragovi, Feta Memishi, Lewis Shannon and Feston Azizi all calmly converted from the spot, whereas only 2 Lions managed to find a way past Frano Saric. What A Night!! Go Eagles!! #NSEFC #FlyAsOne #MagicOfTheCup

12.01.2022 You couldn’t script a thriller like this. Quite simply it was a classic encounter that had to be seen to be believed. Saturday, 14th of March, 2015. FFA Cup, Round 4.... Not many would have given the Eagles much of a chance to progress past a heavily fancied NPL opponent and after conceding a goal inside the first 3 minutes of the contest along with being reduced to 10-men early on, it would have been understandable if the cue was put in the rack with focus shifted to the club’s very first State League Division 1 fixture the following week, but giving up just isn’t in the NSEFC DNA and it most certainly wasn’t something coach Paul Donnelly was ever willing to consider. In a frenetic 90 minutes of end-to-end action, the two sides would combine for a whopping 8 goals, with Nicky Cullen x 2, Paul Dickie & Miles Shannon all finding the back of the net for the Eagles. A second red card along with 2 quick-fire goals in extra-time gave the Georgie’s what appeared to be a match winning 6-4 lead and absolutely nobody could have imagined the drama that would transpire next. Paul Dickie’s 2nd goal of the afternoon pegged one back, sparking hope and galvanizing the 9-man Eagles into a determined pursuit for an equalizer which would arrive at the death via a thunderbolt off the boot of hat-trick-hero, Nicky Cullen. All tied at 6-6 after 120 minutes, this astonishing cup tie would need to be settled by way of a penalty shoot-out and that is where this miraculous victory would be complete as all 4 Eagles kick-takers calmly converted from the spot, whereas only 2 Georgies managed to find a way past Frano Sari. Go Eagles!! #NSEFC #FlyAsOne #MagicOfTheCup
