25.01.2022 HPB made it out to the the UQ Hockey Turfs at St.Lucia. The Wolves came away with the win beating the Eagles 4-2. The match was played under the new Hockey Aust...ralia requirements for managing the Coronavirus risk. So as a reminder and if you want to keep playing, we must abide by the following guidance - Hockey Australia recommends all members (players, team staff, spectators) of hockey clubs, associations and leagues implement (at a minimum) the below set of actions for upcoming training sessions and matches: * Replace handshaking at the start and conclusion of games with (for example) simply tapping sticks on the ground or a thumbs up. * Use labelled water bottles. These must be strictly single person use. Avoid use of communal water bottles. * Take care with food handling at games; for example, oranges or lollies at half-time or full-time. Use tongs to serve or reconsider shared food. * Mouth-guards should be washed after each game, followed by cleaning of hands. * Continue to cover nose and mouth with tissue or flexed elbow when coughing or sneezing. * Keep 1.5m distance from anyone that is coughing or sneezing. * Use alcohol-based hand wash available at the canteen counter, dugouts, and seat stands outside the change room. * All players and officials should wash their hands with soap and water and dry with paper towel prior to and after games. * Gloves should be worn when attending to players with injuries especially against blood exposure but also to prevent contact with mouth-guards.

17.01.2022 BWHA UPDATE July 31 1:00pm Clubs & Officials Please distribute this message to all members and supporters.... Due to the elevated need to be able to quickly provide tracing details for Queensland Health, we ask that from this week onward: ALL PLAYERS, OFFICIALS AND SPECTATORS SIGN ON AT EACH VENUE using the relevant EVA Check In QR code. Could all Team Managers print off the codes and place in their match booklet. Ensure all players and team officials have registered as they entered the venue and if not use your codes or those onsite to do so before entering the team bench or area. It is essential that all individuals who attend any hockey venue check in/out using the EVA QR Codes, everyones vigilance at this time is greatly appreciated. FIND ALL CODES HERE - http://www.bwha.com.au//07/Brisbane-Hockey-Venue-QR-CODES.
17.01.2022 URGENT COMMUNICATION TO ALL BWHA CLUBS AND OUR HOCKEY COMMUNITY, BELOW IS A JOINT STATEMENT FROM BWHA & BHA AND IT SHOULD BE DISTRIBUTED TO ALL MEMBERS OF YOUR ...CLUB. Dear All, BWHA and BHA have been closely monitoring the current health situation and the various advices from Government, Hockey Australia and Hockey Queensland. Sport is an important part of peoples social interaction and contributes to both their physical and mental wellbeing. We appreciate the concern within the community about minimising the spread of the virus and the advices about social distancing. There is no suggestion that any of our players are at any greater risk from having participated than any other member of the community. Whilst the Government advice continues to support the continuation of community sport where possible we have taken the difficult decision to suspend fixtures from now until after Easter to see what unfolds. We appreciate that views differ in this space but we have taken a conservative approach. This is a suspension and not a cancellation. The reduction of the various representative commitments by Hockey Australia and Hockey Queensland will give us some flexibility around how our season unfolds and we have the ability to run the season later into the year if required. At this stage we hope to be in a position to resume the season at the start of May and will review our position mid-April. The two Associations will continue to work together to achieve the best outcomes we can for our member Clubs, their players and for our sport. We will closely monitor the unfolding health situation and are mindful of the financial impact on the Associations, the Clubs and their players . Regards Karin Walduck and Todd Fuller
17.01.2022 Hockey Qld COVID-19 Update #6 Return to Play Plan Development Dear Associations, Members, and State Hockey Users,... With the release of the Queensland Governments Roadmap to easing Queenslands restrictions last Friday, Hockey Queensland, Associations, and Clubs now have confirmed dates on the resumption of hockey. Since the announcement, HQ has begun working with the QLD Department of Sport and Recreation, Qsport, Hockey Australia, and our Associations to develop a Return to Play Plan. We are all very eager to return to the pitch and while restrictions are easing, there is still some work to be done. It is important to acknowledge that although as of Saturday groups of 10 can gather and non-contact activities can take place (with hygiene and social distancing), community sport is not set to begin until Stage 2. This was clearly outlined during a QLD Sport and Recreation meeting this afternoon noting that Stage 1 is considered for non-structured activities. There are a number of details and processes still to be finalised and put in place before we can get back on the pitch safely. Hockey Queensland strongly recommends holding off on organising any immediate formal, organised training sessions under Stage 1. I will be meeting with the Association Presidents Wednesday night to discuss the Roadmap to Restarting Hockey in Queensland. HQ will also convene a Facility Working Group comprising of representatives from different Associations around the state. This working group will focus on developing a set of Return to Hockey Guidelines for facilities alongside the National Hockey Framework. I acknowledge we are all very excited to recommence hockey, and to make sure we can reach Stage 3 and resume fixtures we need everyone to be patient and continue to follow the advice and directives of Queensland Health. I expect to have more information for you in the coming week. Alison Lyons Chief Executive Offer Hockey Queensland
16.01.2022 QLD Government approval of our COVIDSafe Industry Plan means... COMPETITIONS AND CONTACT TRAINING CAN NOW RESUME ACROSS QLD! #HOCKEYISBACK!! There are still guidelines that we all need to follow: ... 1. Where possible, you should still be social distancing so no high fives or close huddles. 2. All off-field activities are still to strictly follow social distancing rules including staying 1.5m at all times. 3. You still need to arrive dressed, and with a full water bottle. 4. EVERYONE including spectators, parents, officials, and players MUST sign in when you arrive, and out when you leave a venue. 5. Dont share equipment. 6. Use hand sanitiser when entering and exiting the venue and as required during your session. 7. Spitting or blowing your nose on the field will now earn you an automatic green card. 8. Remember to follow your venues signage including entry and exit points. Each venue will have its own practices, so please listen to the instructions of your Association and work together!
