17.01.2022 Farewell Trevor Seal. We recently received this beautiful message from the daughter of a longtime Bears fan who passed away last week. With the families blessing, we wanted to share this Bears memory with all "I just wanted to touch base with you to say thank you to the North Sydney Bears Club for giving my dad a lifetime of memories with his love for the Mighty Bears.... Dad (Trevor Seal) was a BIG fan from the early North Sydney Bears days. He would take us to all the games for many years. I cannot remember the first time I went to a Bears game, with our flags and blankets, but it would have to be at least somewhere between 35-40 years ago. Dad had a North Sydney Bears jacket that was his prize possession and he wore it with pride right up until he passed away just last week (7th Sept 2020). 05.01.2022 We were saddened to hear of the recent passing of North Sydney Bears Life Member and Bears Royalty, Ken McCaffery. Ken was a legend on the rugby league field having played not only for the Bears from 1957 1959 and is listed in our Team of the Century, but also played at elite representative levels for Queensland and Australia. ... However, it is Ken’s greatness off the field that made him a true champion. His genuine care and love was evident in all who met him. His son Paul McCaffery, who also played for Norths in the 1980’s, comments He was lucky enough to be intelligent, charismatic and a gifted athlete which gave him a great platform to have a great life and spread the love. He was a beautiful man. Ken contributed so much to the Bears as a player in the late 1950’s and then as our Club Secretary in the early 1980’s. Daniel Dickson, current North Sydney Bears Chairman, said He got the club humming again through some clever recruitment including bringing to the club the mighty Mark Graham and other Bears legends such as John Gray, Simon Brockwell, Stan Jurd and Peter McIntyre. The appointment of Ron Willey as a coach at the time was also an astute move. Ken had 10 children with wife Carmel, and many of his boys went on to play rugby league including playing for the North Sydney Bears. He also had 14 grandchildren. The North Sydney Bears send their condolences to Carmel and the McCaffery family. What a legend, what a life! Funeral details to be advised.

02.01.2022 () The North Sydney Bears were saddened to hear about the passing of ex-Bear and Life Member Jim Schroder on Sunday. Jim (player number 597) was a big front row forward who played for the Bears between 1962 - 1970. After retiring from playing first grade footy, Jim went on to be a part of the North Sydney Bears Executive Committee and became a First Grade Selector for many years. He is often described as a an a very kind bloke and larger than life.... Jim will be farewelled by family and friends in Tumut on Monday. The North Sydney Bears send our condolences to the Schroder family and thank Jim for a lifetime of support for the mighty Red & Black.
