22.01.2022 A fantastic effort from the Under 16 Junior girls team coming away with their first win for the season. Travelling across to Ballarat to play in a chilling 6 degree’s the team came away with a hard fought 2-0 win. Playing together for only their third time and fielding three debutants the girls displayed team work far beyond their years. A super display of how good regional hockey can be when it comes together.... GO GIRLS

15.01.2022 Our Women’s teams had another successful weekend against LaTrobe Uni. A solid 2-0 win to the VL1 team with goals to Chelsie Hird and Maddy White, and a hard fought 1-1 draw in the VL1 Reserves with Sally Anderson the goal scorer. Our Men’s team had the bye this week and it was great to see a heap of them join other spectators supporting the teams.

04.01.2022 Dear Hockey Central Vic (HCV) members, supporters and stakeholders, In light of recent events the HCV Committee met on 16 March 2020 ...to consider an association response to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The Committee has considered all the current advice available from the Australian Government Department of Health as well as the Victorian Government DHHS and the wider community as a whole. We considered the Regional implications and inherent risk of being one centre that many people come to from many places. The committee assessed numerous positions but ultimately landed on two clear options including: - Continue as normal, with strict measures in place (e.g. heightened hygiene, avoiding physical contact, and self isolation in case of illness); or - Suspending HCV activities at the Ashley Street Hockey Complex and re-evaluating our position as more information and guidance becomes available from our governing bodies and health organisations. The Committee unanimously decided to suspend all HCV and any Hockey activities at the Ashley Street Hockey Complex from 20 March 2020. The committee thought to manage our risks that removing the first two rounds and having Easter gave us time to better understand the situation and reassess. The decision by the HCV committee will be reviewed during the Easter holiday period when more information has been provided or made available by government departments and health officials with further correspondence to clubs and members in the week starting on 14 April 2020. Importantly Our decision supports a whole of community approach by other major sports, to reducing the spread of the virus. What this means right now, From Friday 20 March 2020 there will be no access to the Ashley Street Hockey Complex to any HCV affiliated clubs, individuals or groups until, at the very least, after the Easter review or if further information or direction has been received from our governing bodies. This is an unprecedented situation that HCV and our wider community find ourselves in and the state of play changes on a daily if not hourly basis and the HCV Committee will endeavour to provide regular updates to keep members across the latest news. The majority HCV Club Presidents have been briefed already and can assist their members. We understand the decision to delay the beginning of the season is disappointing for many of our members, supporters and stakeholders, but we have made this decision with the health and safety of our members and the greater community at the front of mind as we navigate these unprecedented times. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at [email protected]. Yours Sincerely Glenn Pomeroy, President Hockey Central Vic
