25.01.2022 Well it’s almost Christmas .... what’s your favourite Christmas food?

25.01.2022 I find packing a healthy lunchbox on days at home can help Miss O choose snack options when I’m busy. Today’s bento box consisted of: - veg - canned corn - fruit - mixed berries - grains - homemade banana and oat muffin and muesli bar... - meat - ham - dairy - cheese and yoghurt See more

24.01.2022 Miss O loves watching Buddy Oliver cook, just as much as her mother loves watching Mr Oliver!

23.01.2022 Ever feel completely overwhelmed by just how many options there are on the shelves for bread? Which one is healthiest? What should we be looking for? How muc...h fibre should a serve have? All valid questions... So, here’s your dietitian-approved checklist for finding the healthiest bread: Made with whole grains More than5g fibre per 100g Less than 400mg sodium per 100g Look for loaves with plenty of seeds for added fibre

18.01.2022 These fudgy walnut brownies are so gooey and chocolatey ad | Love packing in the plants to sweet treats! Giving you 6 plant points towards your weekly 30 w...ith extra walnut benefits too... California Walnuts are one of the best plant-based sources of omega-3 (ALA, alpha-linolenic acid), the only tree nut to contain a significant amount (for those who love the detail, 2.7g of ALA in 30g). A 30g serving delivers 4.4g plant protein and 1.4g fibre - making it an ideal snack, I especially love them blended into smoothies, it makes them silky smooth Our microbes also love eating walnuts A recent study showed people who ate up to 42g of walnuts a day for 3 weeks had... increased gut bacteria linked with health benefits decreased chemicals (secondary bile acids) that have been linked to colon cancer reduced LDL cholesterol levels (the type of cholesterol you don’t want much of as it’s linked to increasing your risk of heart disease) Did you know walnuts are best kept in the fridge rather than the kitchen cupboard too? YOU'LL NEED: 125g tinned black beans, drained and rinsed 2 large eggs 1 tsp vanilla extract 20g cocoa powder 80g rolled oats 1 tsp baking powder 8 small prunes, pitted 6 Medjool dates, pitted 1 large extra-ripe banana, peeled 120ml milk of choice a pinch of salt 50g dark chocolate chips 60g California Walnuts (30g whole, 30g for walnut butter) 1 Preheat the oven to 180C fan / 400F 2 For the walnut butter, spread half of the walnuts onto a baking tray and roast for 10-12 mins 3 Pop the roasted walnuts into a high-speed blender and blend for a couple of minutes until it forms a creamy nut butter. 4Add all the ingredients, except the chocolate chips and walnuts into a blender and blitz for a few mins until completely smooth. 5 Spoon the mix into a lined square baking tray, swirl in the walnut butter, then dot in the chocolate chips and the rest of the whole walnuts. 6 Bake for 1012 mins, then allow to cool in the tin for 5 mins. Best served warm along with a dollop of yoghurt. #PlantPointsChallenge @walnuts_uk #CaliforniaWalnuts #WellnessCracked

17.01.2022 BMI - Body Mass Index is a value derived from the mass and height of a person. The BMI is defined as the body mass divided by the square of the body height, and... is universally expressed in units of kg/m, resulting from mass in kilograms and height in metres. Dietitian’s use BMI as one measurement in a whole assessment. It is not a tool to be used alone and it does not define someone’s health. We use it along side waist circumference, change in weight over time, growth patterns, time of life, life events and malnutrition screening. So, remember to look at the big picture and don’t sweat the small stuff.

17.01.2022 S U G A R Reading food labels is the best way to dodge a sugar rush. Your aim is less than 15g of sugar per 100g (unless the sugar comes naturally from fruit or dairy). You can tell if sugar has been added by checking the ingredients list for words that indicate sugar like those listed.

06.01.2022 Dark Leafy Green Vegetables Did you know that regularly eating dark green leafy veggies can reduce your risk of developing serious illnesses such as heart dis...ease and type 2 diabetes? Three of the most nutrient dense leafy greens are bok choy, kale, and leek. They are super versatile and can be sneakily added into everyday dishes such as lasagne, meatballs, and quiches. Make sure to wash your veggies really well to remove dirt and pesticide residue, then remove any hard stalks and chop up as coarsely or finely as needed. Green leafys are also delicious sauteed in a hot pan with olive oil and garlic. #tastytuesday #gwydirchirophysio #supergreens
