22.01.2022 What she doesnt leave..

21.01.2022 There are many people that have a night out planned, or arrange a coffee with friends and suddenly the 4 walls they inhabit seem the only safe haven because its the only place they dont have to pretend they are ok, so they cancel. Or when they are invited out they tell them how terribly sorry they are but theyre already booked up that weekend, when they are actually just really busy holding it together in there safe box. And so the first problem starts, all by itself. People stop asking them and the isolation that at first wasnt true becomes their only truth. Please dont give up on your friends. Ring them, go round, even when they dont want you to. Because they really do, they just dont know how to say it.

08.01.2022 Ahh.. compassion.

06.01.2022 The devastating impact of financial abuse is often subtle and downplayed. Economic abuse is a recognised form of abuse in Australia, under the Family Law Act 19...75. However lawyer Helen Matthews from the Womens Legal Service Victoria acknowledges Its always easier to have people sympathetic or critical of abusers when you are looking at physical violence. Its (financial abuse) really something that people have less sympathy for. They find it difficult to understand how people get themselves in that position. According to the Australian Council of Trade Unions it costs on average $18,000 to leave an abusive relationship. Financial abuse is often entwined with physical, emotional and sexual abuse.

03.01.2022 What matters most..

03.01.2022 Destroyers, Each week, the Mens Referral Service answers hundreds of calls from men who have been violent. Here, an anonymous call taker recounts and debunks ...how these men often seek to justify their own behaviour. Working as a family violence telephone operator I speak with hundreds of men from many different relationship and life contexts. When I speak to men that have chosen to behave in a way that causes problems for their family and relationships, the theme of responsibility commonly comes out of our conversations. It sounds simple, that we are responsible for our own behaviour. However, accepting responsibility can be a big challenge if we have chosen to behave in a way that physically or emotionally hurts someone, especially those closest to us. Its common to encounter self-imposed barriers to owning our choices of behaviour that were ashamed of Heres some common barriers Ive noticed and learned from myself: https://vcoss.org.au//what-men-say-to-justify-hitting-wo/ Destroyers, have you heard other excuses for violence against women? How do you address them?

01.01.2022 Its SOooo freeing to learn its ok to say no to things you arent actually ok to do. Then, when you say yes its wholehearted.
