Last weekend we had the absolute pleasure to help our friends at Opera Queensland launch their 40th Birthday season at Brisbane's iconic Riverstage, with Opera Queensland Under the Stars. With a program presenting 10 of Queensland's most outstanding singers alongside the brilliant Queensland Symphony Orchestra and a 60 voice Opera Queensland choir, the night was an amazing return to live music in one of our most loved spaces. Norwest pr...ovided all audio and vision for the event. Great gigs deserve great PA systems, and our L-Acoustics inventory delivered the goods, with K2, X8, Wifo and KS28 up front, and 12XT and X8 monitors on stage. Geoff McGahan brought together the beautiful tones on a Digico SD5, with the system built and tuned by our Head of Audio, Ian Shapcott (KSE). Josh Finlayson kept it clean on monitors mixed on the Digico SD8, with Luke Symons and Tom Selway looking after the stage and patch, no mean feat for this gig! Kishan Maisuria, Dean Maxwell and Matt Carr handled the screens, switching and camera calls, and our friends from Eventco provided cameras and operators. 16.01.2022 A moment in history we’ll never forget 20 years ago today, we showcased our audio production to the world at the 2000 Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony. Events don’t come much bigger than this! Norwest took the event to a new level, setting benchmarks for international sporting ceremonies audio production. Not bad work from a guy who had only set the company up a few years’ prior as a one-man-band ... It was a BIG night and many big things happened after that. We also went on to deliver the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for Athens 2004, Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, London 2012 and Rio 2016. Whilst every event is special, we are honoured to have been involved in some truly Special Events. None come bigger than the Olympic Games!
16.01.2022 Imagination carries you into worlds that never were! We were transported to Valhalla at White Night Reimagined to this amazing Mad Max Fury Road install, featuring some of the iconic vehicles from the movie. Our audio design comprised of a combination of Meyer for the main L/R PA as well as LAcoustics DV-Dosc distributed between all of the vehicles for the "V8 Overture creating a widespread and cinematic feel.

11.01.2022 Proud dad moment! Watching our amazing RF team working at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Australia almost brought a tear to my eye. . Well done to our RF fitters who dealt with over 80 radio mics, 6 hand held mics and 260 in-ear monitor packs for some of the 1,500 performers. These guys worked tirelessly with the sound designer and the Michael Cassel Group to make the spectacular event a huge success!
