This membership is given to players and coaching staff that have played or coached a minimum of 200 senior (NBL1 level) games for the club or have contributed significantly to the success of a senior team i.e. Premiership coach/captain or a state-level award winner i.e Woolacott or Halls Medal. Players or coaches of junior teams that have played or coached over 350 Norwood junior and/or senior (non-NBL1 level) games are also eligible for this membership. 17.01.2022 Shay’Lee Dayman, a 5’11 forward, has signed with Norwood off the completion of her Senior season for the Simpson University Red Hawks! She completed 4 years of Junior College in the USA, first with Lake Region State College before transferring. In 3 out of the 4 years, her team made it to the Championship Tournament.... Dayman is a multi-sport talented athlete, who is also currently playing for Glenelg in the SANFLW. We are highly supportive of multi-sport athletes and the benefits it provides concurrently to both different sporting codes for the athlete. Known for her defence and slashing ability, Dayman will be a valuable asset both on and off the court for the Flames as she is highly competitive and wants to help foster a winning culture for now and the future. 17.01.2022 We are excited to announce that Genna Anderson has re-signed with the Norwood Basketball Club for 2 years! Genna has stepped up as an integral member of the team this past Adelaide Basketball Challenge season, as a leader both on and off the court. Anderson is a 5’11 forward, who played in 2019 for Keilor Thunder in the Big V competition. She played division 1 for 2 years and in the championship division for 2 years all for the Thunder.... Since then, she returned to Adelaide during COVID and played in the ABC games. Her season culminated in a season high 39 point outing, which showed her work ethic and capabilities coming to fruition. We are very excited to welcome Genna back to the Flames and are looking forward to a big 2021 season! 11.01.2022 **Notice to Members** The lease on the Springbank College basketball stadium is due for renewal and Sturt Sabres has recently applied to the Minister for Educat...ion, John Gardner to be granted the next lease. Sturt Management Committee strongly feels that as the local grass roots sporting club playing out of the facility, that we are best placed to deliver value to the School and the wider local community as the lease holder. Sturt have already commenced talks with the school regarding involvement in the Springbank College Basketball Academy and potential improvements to the stadium. If you would like to see the Club gain the security and benefits of running our own stadium and believe that South Australian District clubs should be able to manage their own stadiums, please email your local MP. 11.01.2022 We are excited to announce our newest NBL1 signing for 2021, Moses Nuangki! Moses is a 6’2 combo guard, originally from Adelaide, Australia and a Norwood Junior. Moses is a fast, athletic guard who can play on or off the ball. He’s a tremendous playmaker and can shoot comfortably from 3 point range. His long wingspan and speed make him a tough defensive player also. Nuangki has spent the past few years playing in the USA. He played High School for Carlisle School in Virginia,... before going onto play Junior College for the Cowley County College Tigers. Last season, his Cowley team amassed a 26-6 record, with Moses Scoring a season high 13 points against Northwest Kansas. 07.01.2022 Norwood is thrilled to announced the signing of WNBL and Adelaide Lightning star, Ally Wilson! Wilson is a 5’9 guard, who, as a 26 year old has 8 years WNBL experience after being signed as a development player at the age of 16. Ally was the 2014 WNBL Rookie of the Year and is also a 2x WNBL Champion - once with the Townsville Fire and again with the Sydney Uni Flames.... In the 2020 WNBL ‘Bubble’ season, she averaged 11.3ppg, 4.7 rpg and 4.3 apg. She had a season high 23 points against the Bendigo Spirit, including 5 triples in that game. Wilson not only brings a hard and tough playing style, but compliments that with a dangerous offensive game. Ally will also look to lead our young group on and off the court. 02.01.2022 We are excited to announce another player signing for the 2021 NBL1 season, Ray Harding! Ray, a 6’6 combo wing, is a long and athletic player who has a tough nose for defence. Ray previously played at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, Iowa. He also played at Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska. Both were Junior Colleges. Since returning he was playing for North Adelaide.... Harding also won gold at the Under 20 Nationals for South Australia and brings heart, energy and intensity to any team he plays on. His experience and character will also be taught to club juniors. Ray will coach junior teams in the club, as well as camps and other basketball activities with the club. But it’s not only basketball that Ray brings to the club, his fashion sense and hair styles will surely also be a talking point for anyone seeing him around The ARC! Welcome, Ray!
