25.01.2022 From our family to yours - Happy Easter.

24.01.2022 What an incredibly interesting environment it has continued to be. We have all no doubt been navigating the many challenges that Covid-19 has presented. The NJFC Committee have continued to monitor the EFL landscape and plans for the 2020 Season, meeting on several occasions to develop our collective views and plans, considering all possible scenarios. This week shapes as being significant in that decision making, not only because of the recent easing of community restricti...ons, but more specifically due to the fact the AFL has finalised the National competitions recommencement and, in conjunction with Government, have firmly turned their focus to community football. This included the recent release of the Victoria Return to Training Protocols and Guidelines. The Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL) have demonstrated a desire to facilitate a 2020 season if at all possible, but not without ensuring the absolute safety and wellbeing of all players, parents and volunteers. As a Committee and a broader club, we are very conscious and focused on our obligations to provide a safe environment for our families and the ongoing longer term risks Covid-19 presents. As a result we will be taking a cautious approach to our decision making. Notwithstanding the AFLs communication and the EFNLs desires, the EFNL have been very clear in the fact that no Return to Play date had been formally advised, as this is something that only the State Government can sanction, leaving the 2020 season in limbo. They also highlighted that they will therefore be maintaining the suspension of all club sanctioned training until at least Sunday 31st May. The AFL, EFNL and State Government will continue to convene on this subject, as will the League and Clubs with the objective of finalising a position and providing guidance at the first availability opportunity. Post the EFLs final decision, we will communicate the outcome and advise of the NJFCs response plans and our intended approach to Football Operations, Administration and Membership. Thank you for your ongoing support of the NJFC. We will continue to keep you posted as further information comes to hand.

22.01.2022 To Our Norwood Junior Football Club Community, Whilst preparation for the 2021 season is underway (refer prior correspondence on 12/11/20), we additionally need... to focus on formally closing out season 2020. I therefore provide notice of our Virtual AGM to be held on Wednesday November 25th at 7.30pm. The meeting will be held via Zoom and you can register your attendance here: https://us02web.zoom.us//tZMsfuuqrzgsGdAzkeP4csxh-xZ3M5qKp As part of the AGM, we will be looking to finalise 2021 Committee and key postings. The current committee consists of a selection of individuals, that after a number of years of service are looking to transition off the committee, so therefore new faces and new volunteers will be important. As a club, we have always aspired to be proactive in our planning and to have committee representation from every age group. Whilst our committee numbers have historically been solid, we have not yet been able to achieve this objective. I am therefore reaching out to our Community seeking your assistance in facilitating a successful transition of committee members to ensure the longer term sustainability and success of the Norwood Junior Football club. Key roles that we are looking to fill for season 2021 include (amongst others): President Secretary Footy Operations Manager Team Manager Coordinator Merchandise Coordinator Incumbents for the vacated roles will of course be available across the season to assist with a handover and transition. As I am sure we all appreciate, the foundation of a club is its volunteer base and everyone’s willingness to share the load. It is now time for the next phase of supporters to step up so please contact me directly on 0488 998858 or [email protected] to express interest. Thank you and I look forward to seeing many of you virtually at the AGM on Wednesday November 25th 7.30pm. Kind Regards, Brad O'Brien President Norwood Junior Football Club M: 0488 998 858 E: [email protected] FB: facebook.com/norwoodjfc

22.01.2022 Introducing your Coach's for Season 2021! We are still looking for coaches to fill roles for our U8 Boys, U9 Boys and U18 Girls. We are also expecting to field two teams in our U12 Boys and U15 Boys age groups. We are seeking another coach for both these age groups. ... Need convincing? Did you know that kids are more likely to enjoy their sporting experience if their parent is involved. They see a parental involvement as a positive. Furthermore, in terms of child development, positive parental involvement can help develop important skills such as self-esteem, motivation and social skills. If you would like to take on any of the above rewarding coaching roles please contact Kevin Tymensen, Footy Ops 0422 115 730. #njfc #norwoodjfc #njfctheplacetobe #oneclub #onefamily #afl #aflw #efnl #vikings

21.01.2022 Its with great pleasure we introduce our new recruits (& one very familiar face) for 2021. Daniel Beddison - Daniel is a former Oakleigh Chargers u/18 captain a...nd VFL Senior player with the Port Melbourne Football Club. Daniel has high quality leadership skills, ability to win his own football and prides himself on his professionalism. Having played many years at VFL level and a former NAB Draft Combine invitee, he has high level football IQ. Michael Wenn - Michael is another former Oakleigh Chargers graduate. Standing at 204cm, he has a great ability to play ruck and push forward to mark the football. Michael had a breakout year in the VFL in 2019, holding down Port Melbourne’s number 1 ruck spot and has featured in the VFL Finals providing great experience for the Norwood Football Club. Tom Maloney - At 22 years of age Tom joins us as a VFL premiership player. Tom’s experience, ball winning ability and clean skills will be a huge asset for the Norwood football club. Tom will provide us with great leadership and will form a formidable partnership with Blake Pearson in the midfield. We welcome Tom full time to Norwood See more

21.01.2022 To Our Norwood Junior Football Club Community, What a year 2020 has been! Pleasing, life in Melbourne is heading out of lockdown with further easing of restrictions announced last weekend. We therefore have optimistically commenced our football planning for season 2021, albeit with a COVID normal mindset.... Whilst there is still a little uncertainty around timings and requirements, behind the scenes the club has been preparing with the following initiatives well underway: * Transferring 2020 Registrations to Season 2021 * Finalisation of Coaching appointments * Preparing for Preseason training I am sure that most, if not all of us are chomping at the bit to recommence Football, reconnect with our mates and get on the park to have a kick. As a club we will ensure our readiness, being conscious of complying with State Government and AFL / EFNL regulations, of which we will provide information on as soon as they are finalised. In preparation, to ensure your inclusion for the upcoming season, please logon to SportsTG from this coming Monday (November 16th) to finalise your 2021 registration (https://membership.sportstg.com/regoform.cgi). As a returning player your fee payment from last year has carried over to the 2021 season. Upon finalising your registration, you will be required to pay a $30 Club Admin fee as well as the EFNL $18 Insurance. Thank you and welcome back to Football. Stay safe and I look forward to providing further updates as they come to hand and to seeing everyone back at the club shortly. As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to give me a call. Kind Regards, Brad O'Brien President Norwood Junior Football Club M: 0488 998 858 E: [email protected] FB: facebook.com/norwoodjfc

21.01.2022 To Our Norwood Junior Football Club Community, I hope all families are as well as we can be, given the current environment. I have no doubt that, as a community, we are experiencing the ups and downs of the current restrictions and the recently commenced schooling from home. Whilst taking us outside our comfort zone, I trust that we are all tackling these challenges with a positive mindset, and ideally utilising some of the support and resources provided by the club, via ou...r Covid-19 Wellness Hub. From a football perspective, the EFL provided an update last week and I have attached a link to the release for your interest https://www.facebook.com/NorwoodSeniorFC/posts/2755966381188800. In summary, given the Governments extension of Stage 3 restrictions until May 11th, the EFNL advised there will be no change to the May 31 2020 season postponement date. They went on to advise that a half season commencing on the 13th of June or the 20th of June would be the most viable option for season 2020, should community football be allowed to recommence. Given the potential of a reduced game season, and more holistically for our wellbeing, I would like to encourage all players to remain focused on your fitness and skill levels whilst adhering to the Stage 3 restrictions. There are a number of activities and suggestions contained within the Wellness Hub and if you are looking for additional guidance please dont hesitate to contact your Coach. Thank you, keep safe and I will keep you all posted as further information comes to hand. Regards Brad OBrien President NJFC

21.01.2022 To Our Norwood Junior Football Club Community, It would be a gross understatement to say that 2020 has delivered an incredibly challenging environment from both a football, but more significantly economic and social aspect. Whilst the cancellation of the 2020 football season was no doubt disappointing to us all, contextually it fades into the background in contrast to the challenges we have faced to date and will continue to face for many weeks to come in battling the COVID...Continue reading

17.01.2022 Dear Norwood Family, Firstly, we hope this media release finds each of you safe and well. The 2020 football season remains in the balance and we wait in anticip...ation of the next steps and what they may look like. We remain cautious, yet optimistic in the hope we can get back to some kind of normality and to the things we love, football being one of them. We are all witnessing first hand the damage this health and economic crisis is having on people. To that end we regrettably inform you that one of Norwood' finest players, Leigh Williams has had to make the difficult decision to move on. An offer of a career that presents to good for Leigh to refuse, comes with an inability to commit to playing Premier football at Norwood. There is no doubt the decision has come as a blow to Norwood, yet given Leigh' exceptional career, one full of achievements that we will forever be grateful of, we all know it cannot be sustained and last forever. We wish Leigh all the very best as he embarks on an exciting new chapter of his professional life. We will also watch keenly as the opportunity presents itself to have a few games at a much less serious standard of football. Moving on, Norwood has assembled an extremely strong list for the up and coming season. This list is more than capable of filling the ongoing movements that will become more prevalent at Premier level, the enormous changes afoot with both salary caps and meeting the needs of Community Club Sustainability will be constant. Strong clubs, with good people and excellent facilities will be the draw card for player retention and some new arrivals, and of course the ability for our network to deliver opportunities on and off field as it has always done so. We will be in touch with further season updates soon. Mark Etherington President Norwood FC See more

16.01.2022 A short video update on Season 2020 status and Covid-19 Club Support initiatives.

16.01.2022 For those interested in working on their football skills over the Easter break and beyond, check out some of the drills from the EFNL.

15.01.2022 To our Norwood Community, As outlined in the announcement below, the EFNL have quite sensibly, on the back of the recent Stage 3 lockdown measures, cancelled the 2020 Football Season. Our committee will meet next week to work through the mechanics of the non-season including the management of cost incurred, player registration, jumper returns etc etc.... If there was a positive in all the turmoil, I think getting the kids back on the park for 5 weeks post the first stage 3 lockdown was certainly it. To see the energy, enthusiasm and smiles on the faces of the players, the coaches, the volunteers and the parents was heart-warming. I am pretty sure we would have won a premiership or two as well ! This wouldnt have been possible without the support of the broader community, so I would like to thank everyone involved. From undertaking COVID-19 Infection Control Training, to adhering to the social distancing and hygiene requirements, we once again demonstrated what a great club and community of families we are. Our focus moving forward will be the preparation and planning for the 2021 season and the building on what is already a terrific base. Your ongoing support in achieving this objective, including the decisions that will need to be made in relation to closing out 2020, will be welcomed. Thank you and should anyone have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Otherwise I look forward to providing a further update towards the end of next week. Kind Regards, Brad

14.01.2022 To the Norwood Junior Football Community, Thank you to all who completed the return to training survey. The collated results evidenced a strong level of support of the return to training intent, albeit with a consciousness of appropriate wellbeing practices. Whilst the prospect of a football season remains uncertain, the benefits of returning to training are well documented. I am therefore pleased to advise that the Council has granted us access to the ground/s and we wi...ll look to re-commence training this weekend. Please note, however, access includes the oval and toilets only. The broader facility remains closed for the time being. It is imperative that as a Football club and sporting community we all adhere to the hygiene, distancing and safety protocols. These include but are not limited to: * Get in, Train & Get out * Staggered start and finish times * Players arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to commencement of training * Players attendance registers completed by Coaching Panel * Players to practice social distancing (remain 1.5 metres apart) where possible * Training Groups of no more than 20 (2 x groups of 20 maximum per oval) * Footballs & Cones to be sanitised prior to / after each use * Hand sanitiser (provided by the club) used on arrival and departure * BYO water bottle (no sharing) * Avoid high fives, handshakes or other physical contact * Parents/guardians are asked to practice Social Distancing * Stay home if you or your child are unwell To ensure we meet these requirements, we seek the support of all families and ask that you follow the guidelines above and the instructions of the Coaching Panel and COVID-19 Officer Representatives. COVID-19 reps will attend sessions and we appreciate your support of them as they manage their responsibilities to oversee the safety and wellbeing of all. Each age group has been allocated a time slot. Coaches will be in contact shortly with details. If you have any questions please reach out. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible over the coming weeks. Regards Brad OBrien President NJFC

13.01.2022 The weather is improving (well, for Melbourne well take what we can get!) so lets keep looking after our physical health. It doesnt have to be record breaking a walk around the block with the dog or a quick bike ride are simple and effective. Not to mention a kick of the footy! 13.01.2022 With the lastest update from the Victorian Government and the reintroduction of Stage 3 restrictions, please see email received from the EFNL regarding Season 2020. NJFC Committee will advise of any other details as they come to hand. As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Good Afternoon Clubs Following the recent update from Daniel Andrews and the State Government today, Metropolitan Melbourne has been placed back into a 6 week lockdown ...from 11.59pm on Wednesday 8th July. Its extremely disappointing but unfortunately that means that all club sanctioned training must cease immediately for all Senior and Junior Clubs. The League will decipher the detail of the information and provide a further update in the coming days. As it stands its not looking good for any football (training or matches) to be played across our League or any League in Victoria in 2020. Please cancel all club sanctioned training and ensure that you are adhering to the new restrictions. We understand we will have 1000s of devastated players, but this is a public health issue and one that is outside of our control.
