23.01.2022 LEAPING LEROY | Leigh Williams has been one of the defining EFNL forwards of the last decade, tearing apart defences for both his beloved Norwood Senior Footbal...l Club EFL as well as the league itself. But it hasnt all been smooth sailing, with consistent injury battles - including an induced coma - curtailing what couldve been an even more impressive career. Read all about his career here https://bit.ly/2W9fS7x

22.01.2022 EFNL MEDIA RELEASE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Victorian Government recently announced that the current State of Emergency and Stage 3 restrictions, which commenced on the 31st of March, have been extended until midnight May 11.... That decision means there will be no change to the May 31 2020 season postponement date. This means that all club training, events, ground, and light usage remains suspended until further notice. The Metropolitan Leagues will continue to work with the AFL and await the outcome of Governments decision on the 11th May, as to whether restrictions will be maintained, reduced, or lifted and/or whether any exemptions would be made for community sport. A half season commencing on the 13th of June or the 20th of June, should community football and netball be allowed to recommence, would be the most viable option for season 2020. The Eastern Football Netball League remain committed to the health and wellbeing of its players, coaches, umpires, volunteers, and associated stakeholders and are steadfast about ensuring the long-term sustainability of all its clubs. Recently a Covid-19 survey was sent to all Eastern Football Netball League clubs to help gauge their views on the current situation. We received 62 responses which provided the following key findings. Junior Clubs 50% of Clubs answered YES to cancelling the season 87% of Junior Clubs answered YES to participating in Lightning Premiership or POOL type round robin competitions Senior Clubs 44% of Clubs answered YES to cancelling the season 44% of clubs do not believe they will be financially capable of paying a tiered salary cap starting with a $50,000 as the maximum given the impact of COVID 19. 84% of clubs are supportive of lower player payment caps for season 2020, 2021 and 2022 A further update on season 2020 will be provided following the Metropolitan League CEOs and AFL meeting on Tuesday 12th May 2020, which coincides with the decision on Victorias State of Emergency Stage 3 restrictions which as previously mentioned, is currently set to end at midnight on Monday the 11th May 2020. Currently the Eastern Football Netball League office remains closed, but our staff are available by phone, zoom or email to provide ongoing support to our clubs.

19.01.2022 Great news, after a year with no losses in his first year coaching the DSQ at Norwood, Nick Blair returns in 2021.
17.01.2022 Its with great pleasure we introduce our new recruits (& one very familiar face) for 2021. Daniel Beddison - Daniel is a former Oakleigh Chargers u/18 captain and VFL Senior player with the Port Melbourne Football Club. Daniel has high quality leadership skills, ability to win his own football and prides himself on his professionalism. Having played many years at VFL level and a former NAB Draft Combine invitee, he has high level football IQ. Michael Wenn - Michael is another... former Oakleigh Chargers graduate. Standing at 204cm, he has a great ability to play ruck and push forward to mark the football. Michael had a breakout year in the VFL in 2019, holding down Port Melbourne’s number 1 ruck spot and has featured in the VFL Finals providing great experience for the Norwood Football Club. Tom Maloney - At 22 years of age Tom joins us as a VFL premiership player. Tom’s experience, ball winning ability and clean skills will be a huge asset for the Norwood football club. Tom will provide us with great leadership and will form a formidable partnership with Blake Pearson in the midfield. We welcome Tom full time to Norwood See more
17.01.2022 Thank you to Mark Etherington President Norwood Sporting Club for the endorsement! Nora is a member of the Norwood family having given the clubs so much over t...he past 12 years as a local Councillor. Not only did Nora deliver on her promises to achieve a new pavilion she has continued to work with the club to get the bottom oval redeveloped as well as new spectator seating for 500 and new parking area. That's what you expect from your local representative to help and deliver which is something Nora has always done. I highly recommend you vote 1 Nora Lamont for the Wonga Ward. 08.01.2022 Dear Norwood Family, Firstly, we hope this media release finds each of you safe and well. The 2020 football season remains in the balance and we wait in anticipation of the next steps and what they may look like. We remain cautious, yet optimistic in the hope we can get back to some kind of normality and to the things we love, football being one of them. We are all witnessing first hand the damage this health and economic crisis is having on people. To that end we regrettably... inform you that one of Norwood' finest players, Leigh Williams has had to make the difficult decision to move on. An offer of a career that presents to good for Leigh to refuse, comes with an inability to commit to playing Premier football at Norwood. There is no doubt the decision has come as a blow to Norwood, yet given Leigh' exceptional career, one full of achievements that we will forever be grateful of, we all know it cannot be sustained and last forever. We wish Leigh all the very best as he embarks on an exciting new chapter of his professional life. We will also watch keenly as the opportunity presents itself to have a few games at a much less serious standard of football. Moving on, Norwood has assembled an extremely strong list for the up and coming season. This list is more than capable of filling the ongoing movements that will become more prevalent at Premier level, the enormous changes afoot with both salary caps and meeting the needs of Community Club Sustainability will be constant. Strong clubs, with good people and excellent facilities will be the draw card for player retention and some new arrivals, and of course the ability for our network to deliver opportunities on and off field as it has always done so. We will be in touch with further season updates soon. Mark Etherington President Norwood FC See more
