25.01.2022 After hearing an interview on late night ABC radio with Oliver Gee, journalist, formaly of Melbourne, but who has lived in Paris for over five years now, with his artist wife, Lina.......I joined his Newsletter for my Paris hit each week or so. Worthwhile looking up ..The Earful Tower, as he does walking tours and interesting interviews with notable people. One can also join his Patreon group for more indepth news. He would dearly love some more Australian viewers so I thought I would make a note of it right here. Certainly worth looking up! He also has a book published 'Paris on Air'..a good read and available via his FB or web site. I bought it and it came with his personal note! Good to support Ausies abroad! Best wishes. Adrienne
24.01.2022 The Rotary Art Exhibition is on this weekend at Wrest Point. I will have three paintings there (thanks to my personal courier!). It would be lovely not to have to pick them up again! And don't forget the limited edition Nostalgia 2000 tea towel and the Louisa Anne Meredith tea towel. They make a great gift to post overseas, nicely packaged with all the stories. Best wishes. Adrienne
24.01.2022 Not a lot of shopping or posting days left before the Big Day. I have easy to post gift ideas and will respond quickly to all requests. Hand painted cards, limited edition tea towels, and of course the selection of over 40 designs of Nostalgia Tasmania counted cross stitch kits....and for the littlies, my Tumbling Tommy children's book. Have happy, anxiety free, healthy, no panic (what's the point!) pre Christmas days. No wind today which is a bonus! Best wishes, Adrienne
24.01.2022 The end of an era! Not good news when we discovered our friends at Magnolia café have to shift campnot that they want to! Our Merton Art Group have been enjoying the best coffee and hot chocolate there for many years. It’s not just the good food and drinks, but the friendship we have appreciated in a congenial and comfortable venue. Rick and Johnathon as mine hosts, do a great job and have been generous to many a budding artist, by skillfully curating exhibitions and even supplying free nibbles for an exhibition opening. They will be greatly missed by so many and we just hope they find a suitable home nearby so they can continue to do what they do so well. We all at Merton Art Group wish them the very best for the future. We will miss you! Posted on behalf of the Merton Art Group, Glenorchy
23.01.2022 I actually managed to finish something yesterday in our art group...Robins.... reference a photo I took years ago from a placemat! Yet another Postcard for Lubeck! Best wishes. Adrienne
23.01.2022 I have a full length picture of the thread winder. Best wishes. Adrienne
22.01.2022 Need a special card for a special person in your life? I am making my hand painted cards again. Only $5.50 each plus postage. The personal touch always goes down well! Best wishes. Adrienne
20.01.2022 I've just watched and listened again to the Live Steam from Germany ( 9th April). If you would like to take a look just google, Matt Charles & Jens Skwirblies, Kulturfest. Good to support a home grown lad, with extra enjoyment from a talented key board player. Best wishes, Adrienne
19.01.2022 Not sure if I mentioned it but my Vintage Thread Winder has gone to a good home in Melbourne! So glad it will actually be used again......the man is going to make socks (he has a sock machine!). I have been painting postcards lately...and calling them my Postcard for Germany series....as that's where I send them. I think it might be a nice surprise in the mail during yet another horrid lockdown. Anything to brighten the day. Inspiration from a card sent to me by a friend.A well recognised special place on the East Coast. Finally...yesterday spent an enjoyable and special lunch with friends at Brookfield Shed, Margate and I can certainly recommend the Trevalla and vegetables! Tops!! Best wishes. Adrienne
19.01.2022 I've been enjoying painting and making bookmarks lately. This is a rural scene, reference from an art book on loan. A change from my usual floral designs. It measures only 3.5cm x 12.5cm. Best wishes. Adrienne
19.01.2022 I'm busy hand paintng Christmas cards ..a pleasant occupation, and it's nice to know that people still post them to far away family and friends. A chance to catch up and add a personal note, which is always appreciated. Any requests will be welcome! Best wishes. Adrienne
19.01.2022 A warm day today so a good excuse to stay inside and do a little watercolour painting. Relaxation plus! Maria Island. Best wishes. Adrienne.
18.01.2022 Time for a little painting which I've recently had mounted. Easy to post, lightweight and great for a Christmas gift! 33cm X 27cm. $70.00 plus postage. Cradle Mountain Cabin, (reference: a photograph by a good photographer friend!). Kind regards, Adrienne
18.01.2022 I've spent a lovely weekend at Cambridge House, Geeveston. Saturday morning finding some interesting shops ideal for Christmas shopping, and a quick look at the very good Visitor Information centre, now run by Volunteers, Then a WildWays Four Wheel drive afternoon tour and then night tour which was really worthwhile. Very informative and amazed at the distance we covered. Well worth it, and we were very well looked after, including dinner at the local RSL club. I'd do it again!! Best wishes. Adrienne
18.01.2022 Here is the Magpie card, from my watercolour, also the train which was painted by a special friend, which I used for the boomark. Best wishes. Adrienne
17.01.2022 In 1984, in New Zealand, I bought a lovely little painting. It is a miniature oil on silk and has given me such a lot of pleasure. So much so a few years ago I looked up the artist, Joyce Drury, NZ, and emailed to tell her how much I've enjoyed her art. Her daughter replied to say sadly Joyce had died a few years earlier, but was so pleased I had written. Then today I finished re reading the wonderful book 'Road From Coorain', by Australian and later American, Jill Ker Conway.... It is such a wonderful memoir, and once again I felt compelled to write to tell her how much I enjoyed it again. I Googled her name only, sadly, to find she had died on 1st June 2018. She was 83. It was a sad discovery, and just a reminder that if one enjoys art or music, not to forget to say so, and don't leave it too late. I now need to find her sequal, 'True North'. Best wishes Adrienne. 17.01.2022 I have an unusual item to post...at one stage with my Nostalgia business I had to buy 500grm cones of DMC thread which then had to be rewound onto 100gram cones. Casaveen came to my aid and I bought one of their old thread winders. I have no need for it now and would like to sell it to a savvy buyer. It is a unique part of our industrial history as I believe it used to be part of the James Nelson factory in Launceston. Please contact me if you are interested. Too heavy to post! Would need to be collected. I'd love it to go to a good home. It has been a very useful part of my small business. ($120). Best wishes. Adrienne
16.01.2022 Happy Wattle Day! My old wattle tree which I loved...now gone where all old wattles go unfortunately. Best wishes. Adrienne
15.01.2022 Time to stock up on cards for special people. My hand painted cards are suitable for all occasions, and why not a hand painted bookmark as well?! $8.00. Best wishes. Adrienne. Nostalgia Tasmania.
13.01.2022 It has been a little quiet on the home front these past few months, but pace will pick up now and my stock is available at different venues around the State and online. Woolmers are open from Thursday to Saturday and they have my Nostalgia kits, hand painted cards and bookmarks my Tumbling Tommy book (now a limited edition and collectable!!), and also some of my watercolour paintings. I'll attach the pictures here and they all need a good home! They can be viewed at Woolmers Open Day on the 15th November. Best wishes. Adrienne
13.01.2022 New Years Eve Day... a milestone worth celebrating even though the past year has challenged so many. Many more have stepped up to the plate and taken charge of their lives and the new situations in which they found themselves. Courage and determination comes more easily to some than others, but there is help for those who have to seek it. Being positive is also inherent in more people than others. Those without that wonderful trait need empathy and understanding from those that do have that happy attitude. I'm feelng positive that 2021 will be a year of new discoveries, a vaccine to help bring life back to normal, but with new found awareness, kindness and perception of those less fortunate in life. Happy New Year to all. Best wishes. Adrienne
11.01.2022 It's always handy to have a card tucked away for that special person in your life. I have enjoyed painting them, and they are easy to post. ($5.50 plus $5. postage). Three new designs to show you here. Best wishes. Adrienne
11.01.2022 For an original gift how about a hand painted and mounted typical Tasmanian scene. One of the cabins at the beautifu Cradle Mountain could evoke memories of a trip there, or else a wish to go there! Available to post now, Enquiries welcome, and reasonably priced. Best wishes. Adrienne
10.01.2022 Series Five in my Nostalgia Tasmania series has three designs. Highfield House at Stanley,a wonderful historic home, Strahan Village...a row of lovely accommodation cottages, and Woolnorth...which is the Woolnorth Crest. I spent a New Year's Eve once at Woolnorth..a memorable stay to say the least! I managed to walk into a bench outside my bedroom door and ended up on the floor in the hall doorway....badly bruised both arms and cuts to the hands! And I still had to drive home the next day! The Woolnorth crest had been featured on a cake many years before and I designed the counted cross stitch from a very small picture of the crest. The designs are available as full kits or the graph only if desired. Best wishes. Adrienne.
10.01.2022 I receved an enjoyable email on the weekend from a Victorian man who bought my much loved thread winder. It was antique I'd say, but had served me well and I no longer had any use for it. I was so pleased that it was going to be just what he needed for his business. It was duly picked up, packaged and despatched, and he let me know it had arrived safely...it was a very heavy piece of machinery! So to receive a lovely email with photographs of the stripped down, newly painted, with new safety switch (thank goodness for that as the other on/off switch terrified me!)....was a pleasant surprise. But even more enjoyable was the fact that he has given the machine my name....in my honour! How about that!! Aren't people kind!!! Made my day that's for sure. Best wishes, Adrienne
09.01.2022 The Glenorchy Art Exhibition is on at MAC, Moonah until nearly the end of the month, so no time to waste! Worth a look! I have my Binalong Bay painting there, which really needs to go to a good home as there is no room here for it! Professionally framed as always by Just Frames of Moonah. Best wishes. Adrienne.
07.01.2022 Someone mentioned a countdown to Christmas! What a year!..... but not the way I had expected. I still have some of my Nostalgia Tasmania and Louisa Anne Meredith tea towels which I'm sure I wouldn't have had, had the year been different. So if you would like a unique and 'one off' gift to post overseas (yes, that also means the Mainland!), I'd be happy to post to you. They are $28.00 each plus postage $5.00 and are packaged with a printed leaflet with stories about each of the designs. I would love to hear from you. Think of it as a Covid Memory Gift! Best wishes. Adrienne
06.01.2022 It's the second and last day of the Rotary Art Show at Wrest Point. I have three paintings entered and wouldn't it be fun if I didn't have any to pick up to take home! My three are, Ross Bridge, Broadmarsh Vista (no photo), and Stewarts Bay. Best wishes to all who entered. Adrienne.
04.01.2022 Good news is that the Kingdom Gallery, in the well known Glen Clyde House at Hamilton, is open for business today! The gallery is well known for stocking exclusively Australian made goods, and many Tasmanian arts and crafts people have exhibited and sold there for many years. I first sold my Nostalgia Tasmania counted cross stitch kits there way back in the early 1990's, and I was happy to receive a re stocking order for the opening today. My Nosalgia 2000 tea towel and my Louisa Anne Meredith tea towel, (remember, not just a tea towel but a keepsake memory!) will also be available, as well as two of my watercolour paintings, 'Somewhere Outback' & 'The Signal Station'. So good luck to the Kingdom Gallery in this brave new World in which we now live. Local support is the name of the game and much appreciated. Best wishes. Adrienne
03.01.2022 I've just re watched the live stream of Matt Charles and Jens Skwirblies on the Kulturfestival Utube video, and enjoyed it yet again. I do hope the government there put on more shows for musicians and technicians who have had a tough year, with no end in sight for now. I'm attaching my little Postcard to Lubeck painting I completed this morning. Best wishes. Adrienne
03.01.2022 As a last minute but keepsake Christmas gift I have a limited numbers of my children's book, Tumbling Tommy available. As a Bonus, with each book, three black and white illustrations will be enclosed for colouring in....always a peaceful way to pass the time...children love it! Cost is still $15.00, but an added Bonus, postage included because it's Christmas! Best wishes, Adrienne
02.01.2022 I have been a little slack posting lately, but Nostalgia Tasmania counted cross stitch designs still live! Recently The Weavers Studio, Oatlands have started stocking some of my designs, and it's so good to have The Callington Mill and the Millers Cottage there again. Also a few new designs added this week. A beautiful drive to Oatlands from Hobart, or a good stop off point when travelling North (or South!). I'm gradually getting over my Agfest withdrawal symptoms, but must admit they were such good times at a wonderful agricultural show......I loved it! And it's on right now! Kind regards, Adrienne
01.01.2022 The yearly Artlands exhibiton, Dysart House, Kempton, is happening again and I am entering two watercolour paintings. Another good reason for entereing is that hopefuly I'll be able to partake of the scones, whisky jam and cream and good coffee when I deliver my paintings! Best wishes. Adrienne
