25.01.2022 For anyone who buys Wombaroo from Not Just Natives: Due to family medical issues resulting in me hardly being home we have had to work out a better way to avoid mistakes. Im not able to take orders by text or messenger any more. It makes it too hard to keep track of things if the email to reply to is mine and there may be a delay in response if Im dealing with other things.... Please ask questions or do future orders by email or ring the home phone. Im sorry but its important to keep the orders and communication in one place to ensure continuity and clarity. [email protected] 03 97461127 Thank you Be kind to all things. ~ Chris
24.01.2022 It seems that people are being told we (Not Just Natives animal supplies) have no milk in stock as its being held at the wharf (??). Our milk comes from South Australia and we have plenty in stock!! If anyone wants to check ring 97461127 or 0434526148.
24.01.2022 Fires. Fires. Fires. There are so many kind souls out there looking to help those fire affected - people & animals. Though many of us are not directly affected... by this tragedy, it is a bit overwhelming seeing continuous streaming of news and updates, which can be very distressing & affect our mental health, especially as we feel helpless at times. At the moment it is on every social media platform, tv, radio, newspapers. Dont forget to stop and take a breath to refresh, switch off for a second so we have the mental capacity to keep helping. Most of the news is very sad and distressing so here is a cute photo of baby Neski & Masaki San to get you through the day. They are now giant beasties usually acting as a bowling bowl while Im the pin to be knocked over each day when I feed them See more
23.01.2022 This shelter is small compared to others but is just as important. All shelters are struggling financially.
22.01.2022 Wildlife rescuer and arborist Kailas Wild has evidence of koalas in the middle of a logging operation in the Lower Bucca State Forest on the NSW North Coast. "I... went to Lower Bucca State Forest because I knew this was happening and I believe if people see this, they’ll do what they can to help keep koalas safe," said Kai. The bushfires burnt over 2 million hectares of koala habitat. Yet state-owned logging agency Forestry Corporation has been logging unburnt koala habitat for months. The NSW Government has the power to stop this. Take a stand for koalas. Sign the petition to call on Premier Gladys Berejiklian to stop habitat destruction now >> https://www.nature.org.au/protect-koala-habitat/

21.01.2022 We would like to give a special shout out to Libbys Koala & Wildlife Crusade For the donation of $800 now $900 to be credited to the accounts of now 8 instead of 7 lucky wildlife shelters, keep up the great work Libby and an enormous thank you on behalf of us and those shelters!
21.01.2022 The website is down at the moment while we sort out some issues, it will be back up ASAP And we are hoping to make some big changes.
21.01.2022 I could think of a few dozen politicians I could live with culling.
20.01.2022 We just received an email from Australia post and it looks like things are going to get substantially worse in the already struggling service they provide. They have actually been ok most of the time but we fear this will leave carers stranded when it comes to supplies especially for rural customers. So "please dont wait" until the last minute to order what you need! We will be trying to work out better ways to get items to you in a timely manner, this may come in the form o...f delivering in person depending on how bad things get but this is not guaranteed yet. We are possibly looking at doing north and west one day and east and south the next, this will be done on a "no contact" basis and will need to be pre organised if we decide to go this route, you will need to have a guaranteed drop off point as the time will be hard pressed and we wont be able to wait around, this will also not be a free service as the running cost of the vehicle in use is expensive, depending on how many orders we only need to cover the costs of fuel. Please get your orders in early! "FROM AUS POST TONIGHT" Update on Australia Post operations for Melbourne Dear Not Just Natives As you know, earlier this week Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, announced that stage 4 restrictions will apply across Melbourne until 13 September 2020. We continue to work with the Victorian Government during this difficult time, to ensure our community receive the essential services and items they need in a timely fashion. Australia Post has been classified a "Permitted Work Premise" so we can continue to operate with on-site operations but with some clear restrictions. Whilst our Post Offices are confirmed to remain fully open, you may have heard the Victorian Government restrictions will require us to reduce our workforce in our ***operations and deliveries network by one-third***. At this stage, this requirement will be effective from 11.59pm Sunday 9 August 2020. We are prepared in our sites to meet weekend requirements and will use this time to progress our contingency planning and adapt our operations to deliver the best possible service for our customers over this restricted period. Our priority is always the safety of our people and the community, and were closely following Australian Government advice on managing COVID-19 in all our facilities and our delivery network. I want to reassure you we are currently working very closely with the Government on this and will keep you updated once our position is confirmed. Thank you for your ongoing support and patience during these challenging times. Stay safe, Gary Starr Executive General Manager, Business, Government and International
20.01.2022 Drive like they matter and their lives wont be shattered.
19.01.2022 We just got some bottles of Nano-E in today it’s got an expiration date of 19/12/2020 So if anyone wants some to be used before the end of the year we have 4 bottles $18 each for 25ml
19.01.2022 The GHFF heat crisis has led to a shortage of flying fox milk replacer (public holidays = no deliveries). I have spoken to Wombaroo and Formula One is totally acceptable as an alternative. Mix as per instructions, DONT ADD OTHER THINGS. We will have more GHFF milk early next week.... We have 20kg bags of F1 if groups want to get one to divide among carers. Good luck, Chris
19.01.2022 Gotta love a magpie, dont think less of the bird because of its name though lol
17.01.2022 If you know who this might be then pull them up, even better give them up! If your worried about anything coming back at you just private message me and you can remain anonymous. This sort of cruelty needs repercussions.
17.01.2022 Going to Bairnsdale in the morning to drop off water feeders, if there are any carers who would like orders delivered to Bairnsdale for free call us anytime up until about 9:30pm tonight. We will be leaving early in the morning. Also if anyone would like a water feeder message us, well bring them too.
16.01.2022 Can customers please keep orders to Email preferably or the business phone number if first time customer. Christinas mobile number isnt for placing orders its for wildlife contact after hours or for secondary contact if no answer on the landline. We will also return calls if you leave contact information with the answering machine. We are getting a lot of people texting or messaging orders to her mobile phone and this causes undue stress as she isnt the one that processes... and packs orders to be sent out, she works other jobs and has to spend time converting a text or message to an email then email the order to [email protected] If you can type a text or open messenger for an order you can just as easily send it in an email, this would be much appreciated. Regards The grumpy order taker and packerer ;)
15.01.2022 Update Her injuries were about 2 weeks old and had already started to heal and she was emaciated, unfortunately she had to be euthanised. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A trip to Derrinallum in western Vic today to rescue a juvenile wedge-tailed eagle found in a paddock unable to fly.... Brought back to Not Just Natives for the night and off to Healesville Sanctuary in the morning for assessment. Fingers crossed for a good outcome See more
15.01.2022 ORANGE WOMBATS this means the WOMBAT has MANGE and is CURRENTLY being TREATED and MONITORED!
15.01.2022 Finally weve had a win for wildlife, and about time!
14.01.2022 Heres a great resource for any carers of wildlife or for anyone who might be interested. https://www.fourthcrossingwildlife.com/
13.01.2022 We didnt feel like posting up a Merry Christmas or a Happy New Year for that matter especially with whats going on with all these fires, nothing merry or happy about it A truly horrible end to 2019 and just as horrible a start to 2020. The devastating loss of wildlife has us with very heavy hearts, we would like to wish everyone, but especially all those wildlife shelters and carers the best and hope you and your rescue animals are safe from these fires. If anyone would l...ike to donate to wildlife shelters or wildlife rescue organisations dont hesitate to send us a message and we can point you in the right direction, there are some really great rescue organisations out there that are ready and willing to help. There is going to be a massive need for food since the bush has been so badly decimated, what animals are left are going to need it ASAP. We think some of these photos will help you understand the devastation thats happend and the urgent need for help. Also a massive thank you to all the volunteer firefighters and anyone else thats pulled up their sleeves and gone above and beyond! Regards Not Just Natives (We are not a registered charity and any donations made to shelters through us are not tax deductible, alternatively you can donate direct to Warriors 4 Wildlife using the donate button on this post, you can be assured that the money will go to good use)
13.01.2022 VIC has halted kangaroo shooting in light of the ecological devastation all around us ... please sign a petition to push NSW to do the same. Then SHARE people. xo https://www.emmahurstmp.com/protect_wild_animals
12.01.2022 A German film crew visited our shelter last Monday. ARD German Television is like the equivalent of our ABC. They were filming a story about the conflicting vie...ws about kangaroos in Australia and wanted to get opinions from various sides. They had already interviewed a farmer who typically accused kangaroos of being pests and competing with livestock for food. It was our turn to show how magnificent our animals are and to provide an insight into the gentle nature, loving personalities, and unique antics of this precious and iconic species. And of course Helen was able to bombard them with facts and statistics to counter many of the falsehoods that surround kangaroo issues in Australia. We sincerely thank the ARD film crew for the opportunity to show Germany that there are those of us who respect and love our kangaroos and who will go to great lengths to save them. They were wonderful people to work with and we hope Germany will fall in love with our kangaroos, just as the film crew did.
11.01.2022 When things are so tight that you have to sign write your own 360,000klm old van. Looks good for her age the old girl.
11.01.2022 Not Just Natives would like to give a massive thank you to Frank & Dorothy De Vries from Paynesville Marine Electronics. They drove 350 kilometres today from Paynesville in Gippsland to gather a generous donation of wildlife supplies to donate to shelters in the Gippsland area. These supplies will be greatly appreciated by these shelters who will be inundated with injured wildlife in the next few weeks. There are plenty more shelters in the fires path that are desperate for f...eed and cant get out to get any due to the risk of not being allowed to return to their properties. So if you can spare a few dollars please think about donating to a wildlife fundraiser. You can also purchase supplies in person and deliver to the appropriate people to get these items out to shelters in need. Thank you again Frank And Dorothy for you generous donation and effort getting supplies into the areas that need them. Regards Not Just Natives
11.01.2022 We are no longer ordering Fauna Oz education (Dr Anne Fowler) species care books. Many are being updated or out of print. There is an online store that is handled directly by Dr Fowler’s vet clinic so people can order and know immediately which ones are available and have them sent directly to the individual. Thank you all for your patience. We still have some in stock so please check if we have what you want.... Be safe, Christina - this is the shop link https://faunaozeducation.com.au/collections/all
10.01.2022 Reach out people.
08.01.2022 Dear Affiliates and members Re: Corona Virus COVID-19 As I am sure you would well know, the COVID-19 outbreak continues and subsequent restrictions are changing... on a daily basis. I have been in discussion with the VAC committee and affiliates in relation to the 2020 Bird Expos that are planned to start from April. At this stage all sales in April, May and June have been cancelled and we will monitor and review dates planned for later in the year. I have been in contact with the Government in regards to rescheduling the sales until later in the year and will advise once we have received a response. Regards Mark Reynolds VAC Bird Sale Co-Ordinator
07.01.2022 Not Just Natives would like to sincerely thank #Holman and #PipemakersAustralia for generously donating enough pipe and fittings to make almost 280 water feeders for wildlife. When I rang Holman all I asked for was a discounted price to buy enough product to make 100 water stations, they rang me back minutes later and offered to not only donate what I asked for but almost 3 times what I asked for. What a great company! Also thanks to Simone from Feed Plus for allowing the use... of the forklift on multiple occasions making our life easier. We would also like to thank Jason Mallia for his help in cutting and assembling them, without his help it wouldve been a mammoth task for one person especially pushed for spare time as we both were, thank you Jason youre a legend. Shelters have been provided with these completed water stations, and yesterday we took the bulk of them to Gippsland to be shared amongst shelters in the fire zones. 36 went with Tania Begg 16 to Coopers Animal Refuge 50 to Cheryl A Bickham to be handed out to affected Gippsland shelters. Just over 100 to @Mel Churches for Gippsland shelters and carers. We still have about 60 left to be given to some drought affected shelters. Facebook can be very buggy at times so if you are mentioned but not tagged its because Facebook wouldnt let it happen.
07.01.2022 Flying Fox carers: were finalising the order that will come early next week. If anyone wants a 5kg or 10kg flying fox milk please let me know as those sizes are a special order. We always carry one 5kg but in case its in demand please order. To order please email [email protected]
06.01.2022 This is why were are doing deliveries to customers for the cost of australia post shipping when we can, we have absolutely no faith in australia post getting anything right, this is causing a nightmare for wildlife carers and shelters relying on getting items needed for wildlife care. The prices they charge are crazy expensive and the service is insanely incompetent at best. So if your items get dropped off by us, look at these shipping and tracking notifications you will understand why we are trying to deliver instead of sending it with Australia Post.
06.01.2022 From Derek at ARC He has asked us to get this out to anyone who might need help with rescue items, if there is any of the items you need dont hesitate to get in touch with ARC Wildlife and Animal rescuers. Do you need Winter pouches, nests, wraps and other essential rescue items? We are here to help.... https://arcsupport.org.au/craft/ The Animal Rescue Craft Guild has shipped over 1000 boxes of Animal Rescue craft to Wildlife rescuers around Australia. These are made all around the world by Crafting teams to designs weve developer with rescuers. The cost to you is nothing, its nice if we get a picture! If you need rescue craft we are here to help. Thank you again for all your support of Native and Companion animals and to volunteers and shed teams that make this happen. Thank you to Not Just Natives for all your support of rescuers everywhere.
06.01.2022 Please think about making a donation, no matter the amount every little bit helps.
06.01.2022 We encourage the carers with animals to contact us directly so we can ascertain their actual requirements for now, and going forward, and so we can also provide practical advice on what products they can use. We encourage those not directly involved with animals affected by the fires to donate money to wildlife organisations rather than products, as this will ensure the groups have adequate funding and can source the resources they need in the most efficient manner. Not Just...Continue reading
