Opioid Calculator is produced by the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FPM ANZCA) to allow easy calculation of total oral Morphine Equivalent Daily Dose (oMEDD) for available opiates. The starting point is choosing the opioids applicable to practice by selecting, for example, AU or NZ, or by tailoring the options to your specific needs. The calculator is clear and concise.... It provides a list of the chosen opiates and, after selecting the patients dose, it converts this to the oMEDD. An advantage of this app is that, where combinations of opioids are used, the total oMEDD of all the opiates is calculated and displayed at the top of the screen. 06.01.2022 Eye Drop Instillation Technique This paper is a reminder that pharmacists have an important role in educating people about how to instill eye drops safely and effectively. Not only is eye drop instillation technique important for optimising the efficacy of glaucoma eye drops, it is also important in terms of minimising systemic side effects such as bradycardia, hypotension and falls. I often educate aged care facility staff and self administering residents about the importance of pulling down the lower lid to form a pocket, instilling ONE drop and then closing the eyes and occluding the tear duct for 1-3 minutes.
