16.01.2022 Today I attended the ATO Open Forum in Devonport and thought I'd share some key takeouts from these 4 hours with you: The 2019 FBT year has wrapped up and the due date for lodgment is the 25th of June (if lodged electronically), with payment due on the 28th of May Single Touch Payroll (STP) is in full swing, impacting the majority of employers in Australia (approximately 76,000 businesses in Australia are already using this, with 5.3 million individuals' payroll data go...ing through STP). If you have any questions about STP please let me know as this is a new requirement and will impact how you report your employees payroll information to the ATO AUSkeys are being phased out and will no longer be able to be used by March 2020. This is important for ALL businesses who currently use an AUSkey to login to the ATO Business Portal The topic of scammers and fraud came up multiple times throughout the forum. It's timely as we approach tax time to be aware of any scams where people may claim to be contacting you on behalf of the ATO, requesting payment. If you receive any notifications via email or phone (including text messages) regarding an outstanding debt, contact me directly to confirm whether this is legitimate and PLEASE never give out your payment details (% guaranteed that the ATO will never ask you for your payment details in any correspondence that they send out) Lots of information above - if you have any questions, contact me!
