20.01.2022 What does flax do to the flex? The strength and the weight of the surfboard is pretty straight forward, the least understood of the three is the flex. NOTOX boards are more flexible thanks to the FLAX. Did you know as a "traditional" brand or shop, you can buy customized surfboards for roughly AU$165 / US$120 and sell them for $820 - $990 (five to six times more)? There’s no way to maintain such indecent margins with more eco-friendly materials or more sustainable processes. We believe that mass retail is the key problem, because it forces all of the manufacturers’ population to keep cost as low as possible in order to have ...a chance to compete. In our case, we make boards locally, sell them directly, we spend a lot on a conscious way to build boards and we manage to live. Good ingredients cost more, plain and simple. 01.01.2022 Is surfboard market in Australia hard to infiltrate? Hell yes absolutely challenging. But that's what drives us. Although NOTOX is highly valued and proven surf brand with more than 10 years of experience in Europe it is technically pretty new here in Oz. It's like bringing the wood into the forest, right? Why are we here then? We believe one day we will see some type of authority in surfing come in and ban certain toxic materials. Also, surfers and specifically next generat...ion will become more aware than ever of the importance of a clean ocean, healthy coral reefs and a stable climate. If you surf and care about the environment and the toxic/waste heavy surfboard industry than you know the use of alternative renewable materials and technologies have led to a board with superior qualities that is stronger, lasts longer, is enviro friendly and means no toxicity for people who make it.
