13.01.2022 GOOD GUTS = GOOD BRAINS When you eat, the balance of food intake , behaviour and energy are controlled by many pathways and the gut microbiota These structural pathways are the mediators of bio directional signalling between the gastro intestinal tract and the brain... This is called the Gut-brain axis This is such an important biological process and it controls how we think, feel and act When you eat, think about how you can fuel your brain and your gut for optimal health! 12.01.2022 ARE YOUR TEENS GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP? The latest study proves that lack of routine, too much screen time and poor diet can contribute to your teens not performing at their best! Regular lack of the suitable amount of sleep can lead teens toward learning difficulties, anxiety and depression.... Unfortunately this is not surprising, but it is very sad and alarming. So, as the fantastic parent that you are, here are the tips for what you can do to get your child back on track to better sleep. Cut out any caffeinated drinks Change to a low sugar lifestyle Lock up the screens AT LEAST 1 hour before bedtime Create a bedtime routine with your child. This can be listening to meditation music, reading a book together or just sitting and talking about the day. Regular physical activity. Make your children go to bed at the same time every night . This way there are no suprises when you remind them that it is time for bed! HOURS OF SLEEP NEEDED: CHILDREN 5-13 years need 9-11 hours a night TEENAGERS 14-17 years need 8-10 hours a night.
