22.01.2022 It was a hell of a week. Spent half an week with a nasty head cold which also meant half a week in iso. (Thankfully got the all clear.) But it also meant it was much harder to follow my healthy eating plan. I was exhausted and craving carby foods. Thankfully, in these instances having a few nourishing quick dishes up your sleeve goes a long way. ... So here's my Leftover Fritata recipe which hit the spot (4 serves) 6-8 eggs 2 cups of roast veggies (I used roasted cauliflower, zucchini, capsicum, mushroom and sweet potato.) 1/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk Pinch of salt & pepper 3 garlic cloves 1/2 tsp of smoked paprika Optional 2 tbs of diced sun dried tomatoes Sprinkle of grated cheese Instructions Preheat Oven to 180c Beat eggs, milk, S & P, paprika and garlic. Place cooked veggies in 12 X 12 pan. Pour eggs over veggies. Sprinkle with grated cheese Bake for 30mins or until firm. Benefits Lots of nutrient dense veggies High protein Keeps for a few days Marcos per serve Fat 14g Protein 13g Carbs 17g #plantbased #easyrecipe #nourish

21.01.2022 Day 6 #danielfast Going into a cleanse I always worry about my energy levels. I'm a busy mum, work full time and am hitting the gym so I can't really afford for my energy levels to crash. Can anyone relate?... For the first three days I was tired. Not exhausted, but that three o'clock slump really hit me. Then day four it was like a switch. Boom. No more 3 o'clock slump! Taking time to focus on what's going into the body has certainly helped me hit my vegetable intake each day. Especially my greens I'm drinking lots of broths and to keep it interesting I'm trying to find new and exciting recipes. Thanks @thebrothsisters for making these super easy tea bags! I'm loving them! I just added some spring onion and diced okra. #teabagbroth #itsactuallyithing

21.01.2022 Let's talk about taste buds. How is it that some peoples can happily chow down on extraordinarily salty dried fruit (I'm looking at you Myanmar ) while others use salt sparingly? The answer: Our taste buds adapt.... From our birth to our death our taste buds are constantly being replaced, approx every two weeks. And the sensitivity of each taste bud changes with the times too. This is great news for those who have been overconsuming sugar, salt, and msg. I'm day 18 of my Daniel fast and I've cut out most sugar and processed foods. I've noticed a significant change to my sweet tolerance levels, and I'm enjoying the cleaner taste of my vegetable broths. So, the less sweet and salty crap you eat the more sensitive you are to these flavours, and the less you desire. #truestory This is one of the greatest benefits of doing a cleanse or fast. It helps you to reset your taste buds and make you more aware of what's going in. #danielfast #only3daystogo Noodle mushrooms (Enoki) make a great addition to a carb free soup. Delish!

18.01.2022 #coronavirusupdate You may hear on the news that there's been a significant increase in cases of the current outbreak in China. But just so you know, there's also been a change to the way they're diagnosed. Officials aren't waiting or needing lab test results anymore, their diagnosing on CT scans of the chest.... Is this more accurate? Doubtful. "Cases where doctors have seen chest infection on a CT scan are now being classed as coronavirus rather than just those confirmed by a lab test result, leading to a 254 rise in deaths to a total of 1,370 since the outbreak began." Says the guardian news. So, let's just keep these numbers in perspective when we're watching the news over the next week or so. https://www.theguardian.com//huge-rise-coronavirus-cases-r

02.01.2022 #mealprep OK, so the term meal is probably a stretch in this instance. This is actually my #brothprep for lunch today. As part of my 21 day modified Daniel fast/cleanse I'm drinking lots of vegetable bone broth. And since I'm part lazy and part busy I love to be able to make it on the go. (Shockingly honest, I know )... So, why bone broth? It's a wonderful traditional medicine that has finally made its way back into our kitchen and it has so many health benefits ~ Natural rich source of minerals ~ and the a whole spectrum of trace minerals too! Source of gelatin and collagen ~ which can help heal inflammation of the gut. Low addiditive and preservative free which makes it a great alternative to packet soup (or that second cup of coffee). Simple way to add more vegetables into your diet. Generally lower sodium than other processed soups and snacks. How do I make mine? Here's my recipe Diced mushroom and spring onion. Small piece of marinated tofu, diced. Half a tsp of miso and a heaped tsp of Nutraorganics bone broth. Put all of it in boiling water and let sit for 5 mins to soften the veggies. You could also add some diced greens for extra green power #drinkandenjoy #danielfast #day8 #alittlelazyalittlebusy #moretimeforgoodstuff
