11.01.2022 #7DayImmuneBoost DAY 3: EAT LESS FAT - FOCUS ON HEALTHY FATS! What healthy fats have you had today?... Diets high in unhealthy fats impair immunity by decreasing the function of T-cells. Fried foods and those containing oil, promote inflammation and hinder appropriate immune responses. Research has shown a link between reduced-fat diets (20% of calories) and the increased activity of natural killer cells, an important component of the immune system’s response. On the other hand, a moderate consumption of healthy fats such as those found in nuts and seeds aids in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins like A, D and E, which are crucial for immune health. Brazil nuts and sunflower seeds - a good source of selenium, a key player in immune health. Pumpkin seeds provide magnesium and zinc which work to strengthen our immune system. Omega-3 fats found in oily fish, flax seeds, chia seeds, and walnuts, help to tame systemic inflammation and free your immune system to defend against pathogens. Omega 3's are also known to reduce inflammation - but you have to be careful the source of fish oils for example...many are made from farmed, stressed fish which actually convert their omega 3 fats to highly inflammatory omega 6 fats! 07.01.2022 Bring your handweights! In the interest of "social distancing" we are replacing our partnered boxing workouts with shadowboxing handweight workouts! You are gonna get toned, you are gonna burn calories and you are gonna have FUN! Nip down to Big W/Kmart/Dollar shops and grab yourself a pair (1.5kgs-3kgs is a good starting point).
