23.01.2022 Here is something that was written by one of our beautiful performers who works as a doctor at a hospital. It is so great to read that we are helping our medical community during this tough time where we are in the midst of a theatre break. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To my community musical theatre friends,... As some of you may know, I’m a doctor working at a busy suburban emergency department. About a year ago, I took my first tentative steps (very tentative, by the way - since dancing is really NOT my thing) into the world of community musical theatre. I was absolutely blown away by the amazingly talented, kind, patient, generous and wonderful people who make up this community, and who light up the stage with their passion. Lately, my Facebook feed has been filled with news of show cancellations, disrupted rehearsals, postponements and uncertainties because of Covid-19. Unfortunately, because of the need for social distancing, the arts community has been very hard hit. I can only imagine what it feels like to have this happen - to put your heart, soul and many hours of practice into a show, only to have it cancelled - and I want to say that I’m so very sorry for you guys, it’s just an awful situation. However, as a healthcare worker, I also want to thank you - like, huge-bouquet-of-flowers-and-giant-box-of-chocolates-thank you. These social distancing measures are so important to help us keep the community safe. You may have heard of the concept (and seen the pictures) of flattening the curve - the idea that if we can slow down the spread of Covid-19, then we can spread out the wave of seriously ill people and reduce the impact on the healthcare system. This will save lives, and will help us healthcare workers care for you, and your loved ones, to the best of our ability. I hope that when this pandemic is all over, life returns to normal, and we do our next show, we will look out into the audience, soak up the applause, see the delighted faces - and know that we all did our part to keep the community safe. So thank you again, on behalf of all us healthcare workers. As my dance teacher once said to me, Mate. Performing arts ain’t for the weak! 11.01.2022 Last nights "opening night" cast zoom party. We are all sad that we couldn't do this in real life but thankful for the technology that allows us to still open our show via zoom. We look forward to opening our show with this wonderful cast as soon as possible.
05.01.2022 Dear NOVA community, Due to the growing concerns, mass gathering recommendations and uncertainty regarding Coronavirus within our wider community, the NOVA Music Theatre production team and committee have made the difficult decision to postpone our upcoming show ‘Beautiful: The Carole King Musical’. This decision has not been made lightly, but due to the uncertainty created by the spread of COVID-19, the production team and committee believe that it is important to take all n...ecessary precautions to ensure that we keep the cast, crew, production team, orchestra families, friends and audiences safe during this time of uncertainty. However, the show must go on, so therefore we are happy to announce that we will be staging ‘Beautiful: The Carole King Musical’ in October 2020 at our NEW venue! We will be re-issuing the purchased tickets of Beautiful, due to the change of dates and venue. All prices will remain the same so it will be a direct swap of tickets. Please ring Lyn Handy on 1300 304433 after Easter to give her time to organise try booking for the exchange as this can only be done through our fantastic ticket secretary, although tickets purchased through the Whitehorse Centre will need to be done through them.
