25.01.2022 We always have a fun day out at @huntervalleyzoo_offical. Stella made a new beautiful friend.

25.01.2022 Get Online Week is a week-long annual celebration that sees thousands of events take place each year giving everyone the chance to find the support they need to improve their digital skills. This year's Get Online Week campaign will take place from 19 - 25 October 2020. If the last few months have taught us anything, it's how vital digital skills are to our wellbeing and safety. Yet 2.5 million people in Australia are not online. This year's campaign will respond to the needs... of our communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ll support people to connect with friends and family, stay safe online, learn how to better use their devices, find reliable health information and apply for work online. Just because you are physically distancing does not mean you have to be socially isolated. You can welcome the world into your home by connecting with the NovaCare Virtual Day Centre, helping you to engage with others. NovaCare makes it easy to utilise your phone, tablet or computer to join exercise classes, do your shopping, enjoy armchair travel or to learn and listen. We’re here to help you or a family member to build the technology skills to access these great online services and help you stay connected to others. Please call us on 1300 363 654 or check out the NovaConnect section on our website. #GetOnlineWeek See more

25.01.2022 Thank you to the beautiful children at KU Kintaiba for your bright and colourful Wall Heart pictures. We love them

25.01.2022 What a beautiful day to head to Belmont Baths, lunch on fish and chips and watch the world go by. It was great to catch up after not seeing each other for so long, Eve and Jean even went for a paddle and the water was beautiful.

24.01.2022 What can we say, we love supporting local business's and Hillview Herb Farm did not disappoint. Thank you to Karen & family for a fabulous day, it’s the small touches that sets you apart. See you again in December. On the way back home through Stroud we also got to catch up with Jo's Dad.

23.01.2022 Thank you to Sonia Hornery MP for the reminder that we are expecting some very hot temperatures over the next few days. Temperatures could hit the mid 40's in some areas so please make sure you are prepared. Make sure you look after yourself and your pets. Don't leave them in cars.... Check on your neighbours and make sure they are ok. Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. It’s very easy to dismiss these temperatures but a heatwave can be fatal to many in our community. Everyone needs to stay hydrated by drinking two to three litres of water each day, even if you don't feel thirsty. You should also avoid alcohol and caffeine. If you have to go out in the sun, lighter clothing helps your body stay cool and light-coloured clothing reflects heat and sunlight. It is very important to check on family, friends, neighbours, and keep a close eye on those most at risk, like the sick, the elderly and the young. If you don't have air conditioning at home, spend the day somewhere that does, like a library, cinema or shopping centre. Fans will also help you stay cool. Look after your pets, make sure your pets have plenty of shade and enough cool water to last the entire day. Putting ice cubes in their bowl will help keep their water cool for longer. If you find you do not feel well and are experiencing any distressing symptoms, seek proper medical advice from a doctor See more

Nick has a background in Social Work, and supporting people with injury rehab, mental health and complex social circumstances. ... NovaCare have a fantastic attitude towards partnering with our consumers. We want to be able to actively support consumers to achieve their goals, and it’s wonderful for me to be able to take an active role in helping that process for my consumers? What would you do if you were not doing this? If I wasn’t working with NovaCare, I would probably be working in real estate or in another area of public service. What is your favourite thing about working at NovaCare? I love seeing the outcomes of the work we do, and hearing the progress and stories of our consumers. We work our hardest to build good relationships with our consumers, so they feel safe and secure with the services they receive. We also have a strong and cohesive workplace culture. It is great to be part of a team where everyone is highly supportive of one another, and will go out of their way to actively help their colleagues. If you could learn to do anything what would that be? Auslan Sign language would be such a valuable skill to have, and it’s very undervalued in our society. Where is the best place you have travelled or where would you love to travel to? Mystery Island in 2010, I’ve never seen such clear water or green landscapes before, it was a fantastic experience.

11.01.2022 If you ever feel like something’s not quite right with someone you know, trust that gut instinct and take the time to ask them Are you OK? Then make the time to listen, encourage action and check in, this will make that person feel supported. Here at NovaCare we always like to check in with each other and support each other, especially this year which has been challenging for everyone so it’s even more important than ever to stay connected. #ruok #novacaring

10.01.2022 Three years ago one of our lovely Care Support workers Louise, mentioned to Margaret that she was going for a swim at the baths. Margaret told Louise that she used to swim at the baths everyday with her late husband Toby and that she missed it terribly. So since then between December and April the girls who are affectionately known as "The Merewether Mermaids" hop into the big pool and swim around talking about the passing parade and life in general and Margaret could not be happier.

06.01.2022 COVID-19 doesn’t take the weekend off. If you become unwell this weekend, don’t delay and get tested. COVID-19 is still circulating in our community undetected.... Some people may have only mild symptoms, so we need to test as much as possible to ensure there’s no hidden community transmission. While you may feel well enough to continue through your day, COVID-19 is very capable of spreading to vulnerable Australians. If you have even the slightest of symptoms such as a scratchy throat, a cough, runny nose or fever, stay in and get tested for COVID-19 immediately. See the hours for the COVID-19 testing clinic nearest to you at https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-an/clinics

Ron was an Australian jet fighter pilot in the Korean War from 1950 - 1953. He was the first pilot to be shot down in the Korean War. At the time his ejection set a height record and it took more than half an hour to descend almost 12 klms to earth where he was taken prisoner for 18 months where he did manage to escape on a number of occas...ions but was recaptured. Ron was released through a prisoner exchange on 3rd September 1953. After the war he continued his flying career with the RAAF becoming Squadron Leader. Ron is now 95 and married to his beautiful wife Beris and has a Son and a Daughter. Thank you Ron for your brave service for our country.
