22.01.2022 NOVA Focus on Ability for REAL Jobs. Are you a recent school leaver with disability? Do you want a real job like everyone else, but need some help? NOVA Employm...ent has years of experience in the Sutherland Shire assisting school leavers to get real local jobs. NOVA Employment is an Australian non-profit registered charity whose purpose is to assist young people with disability get their first foot up into employment. NOVA works with local businesses that will welcome a young person with disability into their team and Focus on Ability. A real job pays awards wages. Its not a group of people with disability all working together, but a job just like everyone else. A great example is Zac, who now works for MGL Logistics. Before getting a job with MGL Logistics, Zac attended NOVA Transition NOVAs School to Employment service, to help him get ready for work. Then Zac signed up with NOVA Employment, a high performing Disability Employment Service with an unbeatable record of finding great jobs. Sue was Zacs NOVA Consultant. Sue looked for a local employer who could utilise Zacs skills and who was willing to make some adjustments for Zac and Focus on his Abilities. On NOVAs recommendation Jim Merrigan, Managing Director of MGL Logistics, hired Zac. Zac says On a day-to-day basis I update sailing schedules, I send delivery statuses to a few of our key clients and I perform reception duties and answer the phone. I support the companys IT systems; Im generally the first port of call whenever theres an IT issue in the office. Jim says: Zac gets along great with all of the people here. Hes been a real bonus to have on the team here and I can certainly recommend that people look to NOVA to look for additional people to join their team. Zac says My favourite thing about having a job is getting out of the house a lot. Im more confident, more independent. Im now earning more money, Zacs employment story is a win for both Jim Merrigan and Zac. All NOVA services are free of charge fully funded by the NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme and the Department of Social Services. For more information, contact NOVA Employment on (02) 8886 5800
