25.01.2022 Great to be back. Challenges of a rented hall where I can't measure up yoga mat distances and leave markers on the floor from class to class. It will be a case of measuring up every class and putting my flameless candles to good use to help with the social distancing. Not so effective during the day, but might be pretty at night.

23.01.2022 Yin and Yang yoga are seemingly opposite, but complement each other.. Join me Thursday evenings at 6:30pm or Friday mornings at 9:30am at 26 Jenke circuit Kambah (Subud Hall) to explore a little bit of both in the one class.( Sadly these are not my puppies)

21.01.2022 Great News. Yoga classes (limited numbers) are able to commence again in the ACT from Sunday. I am now waiting to hear whether the premises where I rent my space (Subud and ENC) are available for rent to the public again yet, or are still closed. Working on my Covid Safe Plan. Hope to be back mid-June if the rental spaces are available.

13.01.2022 On this International Day of Yoga, it is great to see us emerging from our Covid 19 restrictions and back into a our yoga practice. Reminder that Yin Yoga starts back this Tuesday night, 23 June, at 6:30pm at Erindale Neighbourhood Centre. This is in addition to the existing Thursday night Yin/Yang 6:30pm and the Friday morning Yin/Yang 9:30am, both at the Subud Hall Kambah. NO EQUIPMENT WILL BE LOANED. Please bring your own mat ( or for Yin, you just need something to lie on - a beach towel will suffice), cushion or pillow, towel (or yoga block if you have one), scarf/belt/yoga strap. Mats can be purchased for $10 Hope to see you soon. Namaste

13.01.2022 GREAT NEWS! The Tuesday night YIN Class at 6:30 pm at Erindale Neighbourhood Centre will be starting from NEXT TUESDAY 23rd June. There will be some changes due to COVID-19 health requirements. No equipment will be loaned. Please bring your own mat, cushion/pillow, towel/yoga block, scarf/belt/yoga strap. Mats can be purchased for $10. I will still be taking cash payments. Please help minimise cash handling by bringing the correct payment amount where possible. If you woul...d prefer to pay by bank transfer, please let me know and I will provide details separately. Participants must comply with COVID-19 health requirements and social distancing. Guidance available at the class. Yoga Australia has recommended that mats be spaced 1.5m apart in all directions where possible. You will need to ensure I have your latest contact details every time you attend a class. Classes will be slightly less than 60 minutes to allow for cleaning requirements at the end of the class. Please do not attend class if you are unwell. Please also be aware that if I am unwell, classes may need to be cancelled at short notice to ensure your continued health and safety. If you use our booking system you will get an automatic notification if a class is cancelled. Otherwise I will send out advice as per your recorded contact details. I will be updating the web site on the weekend to reflect this change and also put the booking system in place for the Tuesday night classes. While classes remain casual drop in, it is recommended that you use the booking system to ensure that there is sufficient space.

13.01.2022 What great weather for the Self-Care Funday at the ACT Diversity Hub! Was grateful to be able to lead a yoga class for participants and help out in the walking meditation session by reading some passages from Thich Nhat Hanh's book "Peace is Every Step" about walking meditation and being in the present moment. Lovely BBQ lunch and then activities continued into the afternoon.

11.01.2022 Yin Yang combination of gentle stretches and longer held shapes. Introducing Dolphin for a little bit of core work and work for our hamstrings.

10.01.2022 This little baby was found hanging out calmly on a table inside the Neighbourhood Centre this evening when i was setting up for yoga class. While he seemed happy to just chill and hang out in Lizard pose, he was probably much happier once we gently released him outside

09.01.2022 Gentle movement combined with longer held poses

05.01.2022 Another pose in the "Yoga Your Way" challenge, debunking the myth that you need to be young flexible and photogenic to be a yogi. Today Warrior 1 (Virabhadrasana 1). Often shoulders and arms can cause issues. If you find your neck is feeling cramped and your shoulders are way up near your ears, trying lifting your chest a bit more to create more space around your ears. If that doesn't work, try 90 degree arms ( cactus arms) or hands on hips. For those that struggle with a ...standing Warrior one, an alternative is a kneeling crescent lunge. Cat Cow & Co. 05.01.2022 Welcome Twinkles the Elephant, lovingly made by my very talented niece Saphyre Bunyan. Every star and the moon individually felted. A beautiful new yoga friend to support my practice

04.01.2022 Happy to be part of this challenge, exploring the variations in different poses, making yoga more accessible to all of us.

04.01.2022 4 years ago yesterday I graduated my Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training. A life enriching experience that has led to some fantastic teaching opportunities, and my own humble yoga business. I have met some wonderful yoga mentors and teachers as I have continued my yoga training, and many, many yoga peers and students that have become good friends. Hope to meet many more as I travel this journey. Classes for 2021 will commence in the first week of February, which is the first week of the ACT School Term. Will post more information soon.

03.01.2022 This is my start of the "Yoga Your Way" Challenge! Joining me in this exploratory challenge for the month of February are Lesley at Peaceful Presence Yoga, Nicki at Cat Cow & Co., Sarah at Yoga with Sare and others along the way. The internet is full of super flexible fit, young, slender people doing yoga poses that the average person would find difficult or impossible, and usually photographed in picturesque locations and using outdoor props (such as fences, rocks, trees...) to reinforce the difficulty of the pose. Yoga should be available to everybody, not just those who are slim and hyper flexible. I love doing yoga with the outdoors as my studio, but my yoga poses certainly are not artistic or insta perfect. They are how my body fits the pose. During this challenge I will show some variations of common poses that I use in my practice, doing yoga my way, in the hope that you can start to see some ideas on how you can do Yoga Your Way. To kick this challenge off, it’s a starting position of Sukhasana / which translates as easy sitting . To many of us, sitting on the floor with crossed legs is less than easy or comfortable sitting. I’ve taken pictures of several different examples of how I could sit comfortably on the floor, other than cross legged with no props. As you can see in the first photo, sitting on the floor with legs crossed for me is hard work , not the "easy sitting" that the name implies. It is hard to sit upright with a neutral spine. Sitting on a block makes it a little more like sitting in a chair - it gives more space for my back to be straightened and be closer to a neutral spine position, and takes tension off my hips . Another option is to extend my legs out straight (ish). I can then change things by sitting on a folded over towel rather than a block, and cross my ankles over. Adding a pillow under my knees with my legs in a slightly wider and longer position is another option. Sukhasana should be comfortable and easy, not a struggle, so allow yourself to use props to make it easier., so the name of the pose "easy sitting" and the outcome are the same . #yogayourwaychallenge #accessibleyoga #breakingyogastereotypes #yogayourway #yogaforeverybody
