Mostly reside in Museums: see pics National Maritime Museum London National Army Museum London British Museum Winterthur Museum USA And here is the fascinating history: Since 17th century, Chinese Porcelain was popular in Europe, and its shipping from the Far East was practical & ptofitable being used in ships as weight ballasts and packed within expensive tea. The EIC Armorial porcelain was particularly popular and commissioned by wealthy English Families, a difficult, lengthy and expensive endeavour, just adding to its attraction as a symbol of elite masculinity while highlighting their wealth & status within the EIC. Directors, Captains & Officers of the East Indian trading company placed commissions for this Armorial Porcelain with Supercargo Officers dealing with Chinese Merchants. Decorators and Potters in Canton & Jingdezhen. Hand written English instructions & sketches would pass through many until the commission was completed 3 years later for approx 100 (11000 today). Some mistakes were made along the way, a well known example were dolphins replacing flying birds, bringing new meaning to a flying fish! With different Chinese designers used and hand painting, EIC Armorial China pieces are each unique. These Platters have an H in Senatus in line with that complex communication process of these commissions, just adding to its story and providence. 07.01.2022 THE OLDER THE BETTER Approximate 178 years Olde $65: Three Piece Antique Early 1800s Tea and Coffee Duo. No backstamp, but I believe this to be from Rockingham Pottery (1826 to 1841). There is a Wide Rimmed Tea Cup and taller good size Coffee Cup, that both fit the Saucer. ... The Rockingham Pottery started in 1745 providing utilitarian earthenware, but in 1806 they went broke and were bought out by the Earl of Bramfield, who through his aristocracy connections got the Pottery recognized with Royalty. Their greatest achievements were achieved from 1826 with the Pair of Rhinoceros Vases and a Dessert Set for King William IV. Both took 8 years to complete. One of the Rhinocerose Vases now resides in the V&A Museum London, the Dessert Set still resides at Windsor Castle This 19th-century manufacturer of porcelain of international repute, supplying fine wares to royalty and the aristocracy in Britain and overseas finally closed in 1841 as their artistry excellence out did their business acumen, but as a result now so very Collectable. This design is clean and contemporary looking for its approximate 178 years, with blue & green Rushes, embossed and heavy gold gilt rims and a deep Saucer, typical of the 1800s. Rockingham was known for its more contemporary style during its earlier years of 1826+ , until it turned more Rococco Ornate for the Royals. The earlier years were a turmoil of bankruptcy until the Earl sorted them out with the Royals, so no backstamp expected during this early 1826 period.
