22.01.2022 Not all tubes in the liver are blood vessels! These are distended (and thickened) intrahepatic bile ducts in an 8yr Russian Blue with suspected biliary tract inflammation and obstruction. Colour flow Doppler US can be used to distinguish between distended intrahepatic bile ducts and vessels. These look a bit like worms

18.01.2022 This 3 yr old female entire dog is lethargic, pyrexic and vomiting. What could these structures seen on ultrasound be? And how can we differentiate between the possibilities? Discussion soon.

17.01.2022 This is a case of tamponade secondary to a pericardial effusion. Note the flailing right atrial wall which is paradoxically moving inwards instead of outwards during atrial diastole and the poor filling of the right ventricle. This was confirmed by assessing the abdomen, which showed hepatic venous distension and ascites.

16.01.2022 When the portal angiogram goes so smoothly it looks like a work of art ....Image is a CT MIP (maximum intensity projection) of the branching portal vasculature of a normal dog.

13.01.2022 On occasion we have to assess post operative patients using ultrasound. When we are assessing an intestinal resection post-op we usually look for: an intact surgical site, movement of ingesta through the lumen at the site, intestinal distension and motility, surrounding free fluid or abscess, or generalised/focal peritonitis (to indicate leakage). Note in this intact resection and anastomosis jejunal site, there is normal movement of fluid through the site and no evidence of leakage of contents.
