24.01.2022 Immigration SA has confirmed two changes to their State Migration program that will be applying soon: ()... Currently, most graduates of SA only need to provide evidence that they are working in a skilled occupation to have access to a wider list of occupations. From 28 May 2018, all Graduates of South Australia will need to provide evidence of at least 3 months of work experience to have access to a wider list of occupations. Currently, close family members of South Australian Residents have access to a wider list of occupations, giving them a very good pathway for State Nomination, and therefore a Permanent visa in Australia. This applied to all Permanent Residents or Citizens who have been living in SA for at least 1 year. From 01 July 2018, they will need to be residents in South Australia for at least 2 years! A positive change is that close family members of 489 visa holders are now eligible to apply. If you need to review your options on these programs, don’t hesitate to contact us! http://www.novomigration.com.au/contact-us/ http://www.migration.sa.gov.au/news-even/news-releases/2782

23.01.2022 All of you who have seen the Border Security TV show will remember multiple stories of people not reporting all type of foods and live items that could risk the Australian biodiversity. Well, now those actions will have some strict consequences! The Department of Home Affairs has today announced the introduction of new legislation allowing the cancellation of visitor visas in "respond to behaviour that is in contravention of Australia’s biosecurity laws. The new canc...ellation ground gives decision-makers the discretion to cancel a visitor visa at the point of arrival in cases where there has been an attempt to deceive a Biosecurity officer about the presence of prohibited items in the person’s luggage or possessions. In making a decision, decision-makers will weigh up a number of factors, including the seriousness of the breach and the consequences to the passenger." https://www.legislation.gov.au//Explanatory%20Stateme/Text

01.01.2022 Yesterday the Department of Home Affairs has updated the MLTSSL for the GSM (189, 190, 489) visa programs. 36 new occupations have been added, which would allow them to participate in the monthly rounds of invitations for the 189 / 489 visas. Great win for all scientists, with many Life Scientist occupations now being listed. Some other small changes were registered in the Employer-sponsored list of occupations as well.
