21.01.2022 CEO and executive coaching is now seen as a sign of having arrived at the top. A recent survey says the number one thing execs want is self awareness, followed by interpersonal relationships, listening skills and empathy. 21.01.2022 The Depersonalised World With a growing dependency for online communication, our face-to-face interactions become less frequent every day. Does this mean our ability to read non-verbal cues is diminishing too? It wasnt too long ago that to talk to someone (in real time) the only options were face to face or over the phone. Now, in our increasingly depersonalised world, its often said that were losing some basic skills. Like being able to positively engage with people in...Continue reading

15.01.2022 #TBT Throw back Thursday to a fun article by FairFax Media House (The Age) featuring our Managing Director Gavin Sharp back in February 2014. 12.01.2022 Staying Relevant. Dont go past your use-by date! You know those old advertisements you sometimes see on TV, or hear on the radio, and you think how out of date this seems now. Even an ad a few years old can appear that way. Likewise if a company presents as outdated or insignificant, then what is your attraction to them? Probably not a lot. It is a difficult challenge any business has to stay relevant. Just as a company is trying to be relevant in the marketplace, you are ...doing very similar things in your role at work. In previous blogs I have spoken about the job search, but if you are in a role, no matter how secure you feel, you still need to maintain a relevance to those with whom you work and others outside the business. The article on 4 Ways to Become More Relevant addresses how we need to be ahead of the curve at all times. Amongst other things, the article talks of relevance as being an integral part of your organisation, of your company, of the economy, and of the future. It means being the kind of person on whom others depend, whether for leadership, expertise, acumen, or emotional support. In practical terms this means talking to people managers, colleagues, stakeholders (internal and external) etc. People need to know what you do, how you add to the business, your values and so on. Do not be anonymous in the business in which you work. Likewise, find out what others do. Dont assume you know everything that happens in your business. Build your knowledge of the industry as well and that of your competitors. Even learn from dinner party conversations! Be a better listener and be more aware of your surroundings. In addition, attend conferences, research, read and undertake professional development. Keep that LinkedIn updated and same with your resume. The investment in staying relevant cannot be understated. You will appreciate how much you know and how much people will come to appreciate you for what it is you do and can offer. You will learn the art of creating conversations with people who are remote or distant to you (in a business and social sense) and you will be much better when it comes to refining your elevator pitch. Most of all, you will learn how to manage your time and presence with your business, and when/if required, be ready for the next move. So think about those old commercials you see and hear. Dont become or look outdated and dont let your skill set go past its use-by date. The last thing you want is to find yourself rushing to catch up!

10.01.2022 "Executives need coaches for the same reasons high-performing individuals rely on them: "We cannot see our own mistakes, and if we are not getting better, we are getting worse." http://www.postbulletin.com//article_1ba735c1-a359-5190-a7
