18.01.2022 Healing land, healing people, reconnecting to Boodja, people and finally language at Nowanup at the last Birak camp. It is the first time in 15 years in running camps that Nowanup has raised the bar even higher to the point where Yorgas craft activities and reconnecting to culture and having elder Aunty Iris Woods share her special language workshop. Her presentation was well received to the point where language is now to become a permanent part of Nowanup programmes.

10.01.2022 Another wonderful weekend at Nowanup for the Djeran camp. After 50mls of rain with both tanks and the dam filling up it was good to gather in Djeran to listen, learn and connect. In the morning a group headed out looking for Youik (bush potatoes), stopping along the way home for Uncle Eugene to point out more plants which can be harvested for food and medicinal purposes. That afternoon Aunty Iris taught Noongar language and a big mob of us finished singing together in language. Some of the other activities included basket weaving, wood working, the Coolingahs (children) practiced and performed songs and we gathered together at the circles under the stars. Walkers enjoyed the trails and first time visits to the mia-mias learning more about the projects, plants and wildlife of Nowanup.
