24.01.2022 Great market last night at the Nightjar Festival in Torquay. Lots of happy people enjoying the awesome bands and street performers. See you there for the next one on Thursday 9th Jan!

24.01.2022 A couple of empty lineups - lunchtime today on the Surf Coast

24.01.2022 Surf was still pumping this morning

24.01.2022 Playing with the light this morning

22.01.2022 Had a fun day at the opening of the Great Ocean Road Surf Tours new headquarters in Torquay. All the best in the new premises guys!

22.01.2022 Onto our next stop Padang Padang. This is the view from our accommodation overlooking Impossibles with Bingin & Balangan in the distance. You don’t often get to take surf photos whilst lounging on a day bed!

22.01.2022 That's right, 20% off all photos in the new Great Ocean Road Surf Tours store in Torquay. Sale ends this Sunday & while you're in there they'd love to help you with board hires, surf lessons or tours of the coast.

22.01.2022 The big day Balangan Tuesday 27 August. If I hadn’t of gotten flogged by a 15 wave double overhead set I would have been surfing instead of taking this shot. A surprising amount of power out there and apparently Balangan was bigger than Uluwatu on this day

21.01.2022 A brief blaze of color against the storm clouds in Torquay town this evening

21.01.2022 A few pics from this morning

21.01.2022 I’m very pleased to be able to donate an image to Jan Juc Coast Action for the homepage of their indigenous planting guide. Very useful information to be making available the general public

21.01.2022 Spring Creek estuary in Torquay this morning before the downpour

21.01.2022 I’ve added a box of matted prints to the range of photos available for purchase at Great Ocean Road Surf Tours and to celebrate the opening of their new store all photos are 20% off for the next week. So head on in and check it all out. Located behind Strapper in Puebla Street, Torquay

21.01.2022 Crawling foam at Bells during last year’s trials

21.01.2022 This image has been growing on me. I think it’s because of it’s raw and ancient feel but the magpie in centre of frame is interesting too. Bells doing it's thing, July 2011

20.01.2022 Fisherman's Beach after the storm last Monday 3.7.17. Five shot hand held stitch

20.01.2022 Somewhere between Steps & Jarosite during that beautiful swell last Sunday 12th October, Ken & Vic heading out to there local

19.01.2022 I spotted this whale yesterday morning cruising past Winki Pop. By the time I grabbed my bigger lens and got back to the beach she was having a frolic off Jan Juc. I'm not sure if I missed much of the action but here are some OK shots of her tail, taken from Steps. It's a large Southern Right Whale, probably female. Apparently the males hang out further offshore and don't come this far east.

19.01.2022 I kind of like pulled back shots. Here’s one taken from down the beach at Padang. Check out all the water photographers in the channel.

19.01.2022 Our terrific winter of surf continued this morning including some warm hues in the sky and plenty of empty lineups. Here’s a few shots from around Point Danger.

19.01.2022 Here's a shot from yesterday's epic swell, south of Torquay. Nothing like a long period swell and some offshore wind to light up the reefs.

18.01.2022 Gallery space in Torquay, coming soon!

18.01.2022 The view from the office today

18.01.2022 A little teaser from the water at Padang Padang

18.01.2022 Take the internet's advice and surf carefully today!

18.01.2022 Just had this image of Bird Rock printed on to glass, 140 x 68cm. It is hanging in our reception area and has a sophisticated and stylish look that will compliment modern homes or offices. It attaches to the wall with four edge grip bolts, so that the piece is approximately 20mm from the wall, allowing light to shine through the piece from the rear. Alternatively they can be hung from the ceiling or within a window frame using side grips and cables, or perhaps a glass splashback for the kitchen.. Come and see it, upstairs at 38 Bell Street, Torquay. I’ll also have a smaller sample on display at the Nightjar Festival tomorrow night.

17.01.2022 The last couple of mornings have been beautiful with clear air and great light, a bit cold though! Guess where this is?

16.01.2022 I just found this shot from 2009. I’d been photographing 2 whales close to shore between Bells & Point Addis for a few hours. Just off the point at Addis they took off underwater heading towards Anglesea. You could see the boils coming up where they’d powered off with their tails. I thought that was it for the day and the light was fading so I packed up my gear then a couple of sightseers said ‘um shouldn’t you be photographing that?’ I looked where they were pointing down the coast and here was this whale repeatedly breaching right out of the water. This is what I’d been waiting for but, I was a bit dismayed they’d waited until I’d packed up to do their thing. So after getting set up again in record time, here’s a shot I got of the other whale doing that classic pose with it’s tail above the water.

16.01.2022 A playful southern right whale calf and a very tired mum oh and an adventurous seagull at Anglesea today!

16.01.2022 The previous time I had visited Bingin was in 1991. Back then the locals were having a bit of a go (with sea ulcers you’d lose a 5 cent piece in) but nowadays they dominate the lineup and seem to like flying through the air.

16.01.2022 An article about my new gallery space in Torquay, Victoria - this week’s Surf Coast Times

15.01.2022 Waves of consequence, this morning

14.01.2022 There were some great colors in the sky this morning. Point Danger @Torquay bright & brisk!

14.01.2022 One of my images has been published on the front of Nature’s Voice, the newsletter of the @Victorian National Parks Association. I am proud to support the VNPA, they are instrumental in the conservation of nature in Victoria.

14.01.2022 Drama this morning at Winki Pop. A surfer nearly drowned at the end of the reef when his legrope got caught around a rock. After 10 minutes of struggling for air, another surfer saw him and was eventually able to get him free. Take care out there everyone and only use legropes with velcro attachments at each end.

14.01.2022 I really like the green backlighting you get in a wave when the sun is going down. I might have gotten out there a bit late but there’s a hint of it here. What I didn’t like was copping the camera housing in the chin & chipping a tooth during this shoot! Padang Padang again

14.01.2022 Perfect surf yesterday and some amazing weather to go with it for the long weekend!

14.01.2022 Rincon a couple of weeks back, 0.6 second exposure to get some movement in the waves

14.01.2022 Another day of great waves. Point Addis this morning

13.01.2022 Some southern lights action early this morning at Point Addis. I woke up at 4am and the Kp number was 6.3 out of a maximum of 9. Nice time of the day for a walk along the beach, and I was pretty happy to get a range of colors and some proton rays just before the sun came up.

12.01.2022 I was pleased to see how well this image went that I donated to the Bells Beach Surf Sanctuary page a few weeks ago. It got shared by Swellnet & a few hundred others

12.01.2022 Welcome Renato!

11.01.2022 I can't resist, one more shot of Padang Padang

11.01.2022 This shot looks familiar, always happy to help Surfrider Foundation Australia !

10.01.2022 Awesome conditions returned to the Surf Coast again today. Here's a few cartoon-like lineups

10.01.2022 A protected corner down the coast this morning

10.01.2022 Bird Rock this morning

09.01.2022 A few more Bali shots. On this day I was going to have a surf but I got to the beach & realised it was a lot bigger than the day before so I .. put the board down and grabbed the camera. This is Padang & the wave of the morning, Tuesday 3rd September

09.01.2022 Our last night at Balangan before heading to Bingin

09.01.2022 Yesterday I was given a valid reason to jump a fence and go in to a revegetation area on the coast. I was asked to take some shots of the SANE (Surfers Appreciating Natural Environment) working bee with some of the other surfing community groups. Here is one of the SANE guys appreciating a set as it reels down the coast

09.01.2022 A quick mission across the border in South Aus earlier this week

08.01.2022 Bay of plenty. This morning

08.01.2022 Some surfs give you more stoke than others. This is a shot from one of those surfs, midday on one of those balmy days last week. Plenty of shifting peaks and not a soul on the beach for 2 hours

08.01.2022 The Cosy Corner micro-tube machine, grinding out a few peelers last Thursday just before the change came through

08.01.2022 Addiscott Beach and the Point Addis Marine National Park enjoying some glorious summer warmth last Monday.

08.01.2022 An empty lineup this afternoon, Surf Coast central

07.01.2022 The Aurora Australis southern lights put on a spectacular display out at Bells Beach early this morning. It is caused by solar flares and energy particles colliding in the earth's magnetic field. #bellsbeach

07.01.2022 A new swell starting to arrive at Impossibles, Bali Monday 2nd September

06.01.2022 I’ve just got back from a family trip to Bali. This is a shot of Balangan, a stormy morning with some well placed light. Standby for a few more shots as we tour along the Bukit Peninsula

04.01.2022 Juvenile Nankeen Kestrel at Bird Rock yesterday

04.01.2022 Just found this little gem from April 2010 out at Winki Pop

03.01.2022 There was plenty of size in the swell this morning but it wasn't perfect so I thought it would be a good opportunity to try some new angles..... the Bells shot isn't one of them!

01.01.2022 Here is a shot I intend to master over the coming years. It's the view I get of Bells from the back of my new gallery space in Torquay. I hope International Surfing Day was good to you!

01.01.2022 Another weekend of great surf and a bit of size too
