19.01.2022 Combining books and bikes... https://www.dezeen.com//micro-library-shared-lady-beetle-/

19.01.2022 Yesterday Steve very kindly donated a very nice unicycle to the Bike Hospital. We'll clean it up and plan to find someone who can give some lessons on how to ride it. Any unicycle riders out there with time to swing by Nightcliff Primary of a Friday morning to impart some circus worthy unicycling tips? Jane Tonkin

18.01.2022 Another busy morning at the Bike Hospital last Friday. Three bikes tuned and repaired getting their owners back in the saddle. Meanwhile Steve continues to chip away at Bakfiets Cargo bike rebuild which we hope to have up and running by the end of the year.

17.01.2022 Last Friday Nightcliff Primary School held one of it's regular Ride and walk to school days. Based on the Bicycle Network annual ride to school day, we just do... it every month. With little more than some posters, encouragement and the incentive of points for their sports team, the school had 55% of children walking and riding! Traffic noticeably down, and streets much safer. Such a great effort.

17.01.2022 So we ran our last Bike hospital for the year. Lots of happy riders this year with plenty of new tyres and nicely tuned bikes over the past 12 months. We were hoping to have the Cargo Bike rebuilt by the end of the year but it wasn't to be. Early next year it should be ready to roll and we'll be looking for a good home for it. And big thanks to Steve for all his work this year.

16.01.2022 Busy morning at the Nightcliff Primary Bike hospital this morning, 3 bikes fixed and back on the street. In just one hour we: replaced a couple of new tubes, repaired some gears, straightened a seat, tuned up some brakes and fixed a bell = 3 more kids back on their bikes! .

16.01.2022 Bicycle Network held its annual National Ride to School day last week and Nightcliff Primary School managed over 135 kids on bikes and scooters - not a bad effort and great to see the new bike shed already full. The Bike hospital is still getting sorted in our new digs but we hope to be up and running very soon with some great new signage and tools.

14.01.2022 Walk and Wheel - Final Concepts and Planning Meeting

14.01.2022 Last night the Walk and Wheel to School steering group presented their final report to the City of Darwin. This was the culmination of over 3 years of hard work... and engagement by @TheEssingtonInternational School Darwin, Nightcliff Middle School, St Pauls Primary and Nightcliff Primary with the local community. Simon Scally did a fantastic job presenting and it was great to see 3 of the 4 school Principals plus parents out in force. Big thanks to local member Natasha Fyles MLA for her ongoing support and encouragement and to the NT Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics for funding to get the project established. Council will now review the report, develop a path forward and consider which projects to prioritise and implement. Onwards and upwards for a more safer, more shaded, more walkable and cycle friendly community!

14.01.2022 Great to welcome Vattenfall Solar Team (all the way from Delft in the Netherlands) to Nightcliff Primary School where they'll be based for the next 3 weeks as ...they prepare for the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. Good luck and don't forget to drop in to the Nightcliff Primary School Bike Hospital. See more

13.01.2022 This is a great project and aligns nicely with the work that the Nightcliff PS Bike Hospital is doing to encourage more of our children to walk and ride to school. It's a public meeting so please drop in this Saturday afternoon if you can.

13.01.2022 Say goodbye to buses and say hello to multi-user bicycles, aka the S'Cool Bus. This is how children in Normandy get to school. (via Brut UK)

12.01.2022 Nightcliff Primary Bike hospital opens tomorrow from 7:30am: flat tyres, missing bell, squeaky wheels? We'll fix them all. We also have two very nice Avanti bikes to suit yr 3-4 - both in great condition. Worth over $400 new each, come and make us an offer - all proceeds go back into the Bike Hospital.

10.01.2022 We're still on the lookout for volunteers in Darwin to be part of Australia's biggest bike count - Super Tuesday North on Sep 3. Help count bikes and you'll earn a $60 donation for your favourite charity, club or non-profit: http://supertuesday.com.au City of Darwin The Bike Shed NT

10.01.2022 Two bikes fixed this morning including Billy's scooter - all good to go! We're in need of more bikes to fix and salvage so if you have an old bike you no longer need or that works please feel free to donate it to the Nightcliff PS bike hospital.

10.01.2022 Today the Walk and Wheel Steering Committee presented to the community the findings of the Walk and Wheel Final Report. The report outlines the ways to create s...afer routes for walking and cycling to school in Nightcliff and Rapid Creek, reduce traffic congestion around our local schools and provide healthier travel options for our children and local residents. Now the real work begins! We will keep you posted on progress and ask you to invite your neighbours and school friends to like our page. Together we will make a difference, one step and pedal at a time!

08.01.2022 HOW LONG before we see Darwin City streets this HUMAN FRIENDLY?

03.01.2022 EVENT REMINDER: The final Walk and Wheel workshop is tomorrow from 3-5pm at St Paul's Catholic Primary School. We want your feedback on the initial solutions t...o make Nightcliff and Rapid Creek safer to walk, ride, scoot or skate to school. Please RSVP to [email protected] - we look forward to seeing you there.

02.01.2022 During the school break, the shed was cleaned up and the Bike hospital has moved to the other end with a bit more space. We're now also storing the school's bike fleet which makes it easier to keep them serviced and with a new facility to park bikes being built over the coming months it will be much easier to fixes all the bikes. First shift back this term and we were very pleased to be able to fix Miss Giulia Elliott-Hall's bike.
