25.01.2022 Dry Needling-How does it work? A muscle that is chronically over worked will eventually form abnormal contractions within the muscle fibers (people report they feel as knots which are myo-fascial trigger points). We can identify these spots and then release them with a very fine needle. This works by activating a ‘twitch response’ in the muscle. This is a reflexive involuntary spasm where the muscle contracts and relaxes at a very deep level. The benefits of dry needling are that we can access deeper parts of the muscle and lead to a faster and more complete resolution of symptoms, stimulating the sensory-motor cortex in the brain and improving movement and health of muscles
