08.01.2022 Every time a woman speaks up about her experience of sexual violence and she’s not believed, the cycle of abuse continues. Every time you hear a survivor’s story: 1-Listen. 2-Believe. 3-Support. ... #orangetheworld #16Days #GenerationEquality

08.01.2022 #orangetheworld #GenerationEquality #16daysofactivism To mark this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence campaign, West-side women’s choir Pitchface present their cover of ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ by The Cure. Written in 1979 by Robert Smith, ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ highlights the way that men and boys in society have traditionally been brought up to hide their emotions. There is now strong evidence from organisations including OurWatch and VicHealth that these stereoty...ped constructions of masculinity do great harm to men and boys, and are drivers of violence against women. The song is a call to action to free men and boys from outdated stereotypes around what it means to be a man, and to build a safer and more equal society. Pitchface’s performance is supported by Council and @Respect Victoria’s Respect Women: Call it Out campaign. If you are experiencing family violence, or you are worried about someone you know you can call 1800 RESPECT on 1800 737 732. 02.01.2022 Christmas isn’t a happy time for everyone. The quiet battles going on throughout the year don’t stop just because it’s the ‘festive’ period. It’s important to do what you need to, avoid what you need to, and not feel the need to justify.
